Roster Turnover, Part 2

With Gagne offically gone, Olmedo Saenz is now the longest tenured Dodger. If Jayson Werth comes back this season, he will be in second place, otherwise, it's Brad Penny.

That's pretty sad, no matter how you look at it.

Tenure
I will miss Eric Gagne who gave us many wonderful memories. My best wishes go out to him. As far as tenure is concerned, I do think that it is a sad state in general for the game that money has turned most MLB players into hired guns. Team loyalty used to mean something...but then so did company loyalty in general. So much for the global economy.

I'd like to see the team keep both Jayson Werth and Brad Penny, who both made significant contributions last year. We need Brad's arm, and we will get thirty home runs from Nomar or somebody else. Scoring runs wasn't the team's undoing last year, keeping the elite teams off the scoreboard in the postseason was.

Werth contributed?
So Jayson Werth contributed to what - charity?  He didn't play all year.  Given the turnover rate, i'd imagine there are less than 10 people in the clubhouse that could spot him in a crowd (and some of them would just be lookin' for the tall guy).

GM, not loyalty
has caused the turnover.  When you change GMs as fast as the Dodgers have in the last 5 years, with a corresponding change in what sort of players are valued, a high turn-over is expected.  As crappy as a team Colletti is likely to build, if he has a long tenure, I expect you will at least see the same bad players on the field for an exended period of time.
