NLDS Game 3
Chicago Cubs at Los Angeles Dodgers, Oct 4, 2008 7:07 PM PDT
I'm at National Sports Grill with some friends so I sadly won't be joining y'all. Just assume I would have said "more like HIroki Kublowda" at some point.

is this the game thread?
I’ve been lurking on bleedcubbieblue just to bask in all the cynicism and in-fighting.
Yes. Yes it is. Everybody else actually left to go watch the game tonight. Or are over at Dodgerthoughts.

I'm disappointed
with the crowd. Is it a possible series clincher or a July game against the Pirates? We’ve been waiting twenty freaking years for a game like this!!!
I’m with you on that one.

Disappointed?
You just not have been there. I was. It was sold out, it was a 9 to 1 Dodger to Cubs fan ratio (a NICE change from the regular season where it seems to be half and half), the place went batshit insane with every score and every time Kuroda had 2 strikes on a Cubbie EVERYONE stood up and waved those towels. WTF are you even talking about? Did you watch it in a bar w/ the sound off? There were numerous points I couldn’t hear myself think, my voice is gone and THERE’S STILL RINGING IN MY EARS AT THIS HOUR!!

That would’ve been gone, but it was too high.
Dodger Fever: Catch it every summer; head to the ER every October.
Another one that was too high. Damn these balls that are hit too high!

Jesus. Doesn’t Kuroda learn? Soto almost had a double, and then two pitches later, BOOM!

And Soto hitting that double prevented me from calling him Blowto.

Who were the Celebs they showed?
I got Crystal, Reiner, Vince Vaughn, Dave Stewart, Dennis Haysbert. But I missed the guy with Reiner.
I had a joke with my bro how there would be a ton of celebs here tonight.
Dodger Fever: Catch it every summer; head to the ER every October.
Vince Vaughn
was wearing a Cubs hat and got vicously booed. Serves him right.

It must be, there’s been at least three of those that I could have sworn were going out.

Steady diet of sinkers of and I saw one fastball in there. Kuroda hung one of those sinkers in the strike zone, and then another on the outside corner that Lee K’d on.

Or did he K on a slider? Gameday says it was a slider, but I thought it looked like a sinker.

Old timer here
Hi dodger fans!
Just found this and added it to my blogroll!
Russell Martin is tearing this game up!
I have been waiting 20 years for another World Series trip and maybe it will finally happen!
Thanks for making this site available.
Do you think they will ever pitch to Manny again? LOL
Not if first base is ever open, I’ll say that much. I guess you can’t blame them though…

Cards fan here
Just wanted to stop in and cheer on the Dodgers. Had the pleasure of visiting you guys’ Stadium this summer, had a blast. Could use a Dodger Dog right now, but not as badly as the Cubs could use a cold shower. Go Dodgers!

I like keeping Kuroda in. Run prevention is more important than more runs at this point.
Dodger Fever: Catch it every summer; head to the ER every October.
I agree, if it were 1-0 or maybe 2-0 I might have gone for the run, but with 3-0 and a hot Kurodu it was a smart decision.

As an outsider with no feelings one way or another
the Brewers, as their fans deserve it more. The Phillies are the more talented and thus more interesting team, however.

Phillies are definitely the better team, which is why I’d rather play the Brewers. ;)

On the same note
I’d rather face a good team than a hot team, and if the Brewers come from behind and win 3-2, they’ll be scorching while the Dodgers are resting.

Congrats from vivaelbirdos
you guys really remind me of the ’06 Cards. no one gave us much of a chance entering the playoffs either, similar regular-season records, but 2 teams that seem to have come together at the right time. Great job, and best of luck against the Phils or Brewers.
More congratulations
from Cardinal Nation. A very well played series, I’m rethinking your chances after such a dominating performance.
In your debt for taking care of those Cubs!

I hope you make it all the way the Series— and my sincere thanks for beating the Cubs— Keep up the mo!

Congrats,
from an Astros fan.
I knew the Cubs had burned whatever karma they had built up from 100 years of failure when they acted like a-holes during our “home” series in Milwaukee. Of course, they acted like that throughout the rest of the season, too.
Plus, the Dodgers just played like monsters in the last three games. The Cubs played like shit. They played better tonight, but the Dodgers were still a hell of a lot better.
Good luck in the NLCS, and thanks for taking care of those smarmy dicks.
Congrats from a visiting Cardinals fan!!!
Thanks for taking out the Cubs!
Good luck in the NLCS!!!!!
Dodgers are my NL team to win it all this year!
As seen on Bleed Cubbie Blue message board... "Wait until the Cardinals call up Rasmus..."
Congrats Dodgers fans!

Your team has been fun to watch this series, I hope to see you guys play the Rays in the Series

Bring the World Series title back to the NL. I’ll be rooting for you guys!!!
We’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
lots of cub haters
but yes. a well deserved victory. 20 years and we finally won one.
Matt Kemp for president.
Adrian Wilson for vice.
Congrats guys.
Well played ball by your team. Manny is just frickin unreal.
I keep waiting for the breaking news from the AP that imposters played these games and the real Cubs were found gagged and bound in their lockers! Just promise this anguished Cubs fan that you will chew up and spit out the ChiSox if they somehow manage to make it all the way. Thanks.
My heart is breakin, head is achin, stomach is churnin, acid reflux is burnin, but I will ALWAYS be a Cubs fan.
Joe Torre addressed all the fans still at the stadium 30 min after the game ended
and said a bunch of stuff, but what stuck with me were his last words, “… remember 8 more wins and we’re champions!” Hah! Joe Torre is worth his weight in gold and is a WINNER!!
