NLCS Game 1 Thread
Los Angeles Dodgers at Philadelphia Phillies, Oct 9, 2008 5:22 PM PDT
Kuo's out, Saito's in. Have to to say this takes the sting out of having to wake up at two in the morning this week.

That was my right to say ‘first.’ And you stole it. By being first. How dare you, sir!

Nice to open the game with a groundout.

Beating Hamels would be ‘hot’ according to McCarver. He then described it as a real ‘hip’ term.

Let me finish. Manny distracted me. The sad thing here is that this was not irony.

1-0. Manny’s almost homer was an RBI double.

Why can’t FOX get Morgan for the color guy. He’s great at mechanics (so the casual fan knows what’s going on). McCarver neither attempts to explain strategy or just has no idea what’s going on. McCarver brings nothing to the table for the casual fan (which is what FOX presumably is trying to get, since the diehards watch regardless.)
Also, thank God no FrankTV ads tonight.

Also, does Bowa like Kemp? He gave him a compliment during the lineup intros. I thought all the managers and vets (well, just Kent and Sweeney) hated all the rookies.

How can someone with 48 homers like Howard not have a monster offensive season?
Dodger Fever: Catch it every summer; head to the ER every October.
That’s not a rhetorical question. I just don’t get it. His OBP wasn’t great, but it wasn’t absolutely terrible, either.

Also, McCarver made a legitimate interesting points by recognizing that that last slider was coming based on where Martin was setting up.

by the big grabowski on Oct 9, 2008 6:49 PM PDT up reply actions
Yea, sometimes I think that. I wish there were a list of reasons that you could scroll down that would help explain why you gave it 4 stars. Like for Coyote Ugly you could click on “unintentionally hilarious.” I actually wrote a review on why I liked Coyote Ugly, so my friends wouldn’t make fun of me for giving it 4 stars. I liked it because it was the greatest meta-comedy ever.
