As a Mets fan
I say that if the Dodgers play as well as you are projecting them then they would be the World Series rep from the N.L. The Mets are not that good this year. We definitely aren't better than we were in 2006, and its questionable whether or not we upgraded from last year considering that we didn't improve our bullpen, didn't get a first basemen, still have a rotation full of injury-prone pitchers, and significantly downgraded our corner outfield spots.
On the flip side I think the Dodgers have improved themselves and I feel like they have a much clearer vision of what they want this team to be and where they want it to go. You guys have to make a move on a third basemen though. It's not that I'm not feeling the kid you have, but I think that's a prime spot to go out at the trading deadline and get some savvy veteran to fill the requisite mentor/clutch hitter/experienced guy for quotes player that any True Contender needs.
