Game Thread 12: Pittsburgh Pirates
Pittsburgh Pirates at Los Angeles Dodgers, Apr 14, 2008 7:10 PM PDT
At the very least this series should remind us that while things look bad in the short term for us, the Pirates have no hope of competing for years to come.

I like how when they talked about how everyone not named Furcal, Ethier, or Loney is struggling, they zoomed directly in on Jones.

Maybe that's why Doumit never got a chance.

Time for a Celebratory Chili Dog!

Are these fat jokes really worth 36.2 million dollars?

Facial hair in general is okay by me.

Especially. We may lead the league in bad facial hair now.

Sort Of Funny Story
I was talking to my coworkers about not doing my taxes yet and getting the usual "your an idiot responses". A couple minutes later, I grab a fortune cookie and get the fortune "you have recently shown poor judgement". Who the hell writes that on a fortune cookie.

One of my Professors Said
That fortune cookies aren't reliable indicators of future events because they never give bad fortunes. Turns out that has (somewhat) changed.

Assuming Kuroda can't field or hit (I'm not actually assuming that, at least about the fielding) how much does that hurt his value?

Let the record state that I'm not drinking like a girl tonight, I'm going with a double whiskey on the rocks.

And Now Andruw Hits A Triple.
Stop drinking girly drinks.

I dont mean to be a downer
But what happens if bautista gets to that, jones is just standing there double play end of the inning.
Sigh im sorry but I don't like anything Jones bings to this team right now.

People at work didn't appreciate my "what has nine arms and sucks" joke when they were talking about Def Leppard.

I think it's time to take Kuroda out. Every ball that inning was killed.

Dirt Nap DeWitt?
This one only works if he gets drunk and passes out in the street a lot. Can anyone find that out?
Do we need Joe pretending he's Tony LaRussa against Nyjer Morgan?

Just Wait Until He Leaves the Bar.
He'll do his Tony LaRussa impression then. Zing!

I Like How Brett Tomko Was Mad About That Incident.
And I'm thinking "Why are you mad, Brett Tomko. You're terrible at baseball. If we lose in the playoffs, it's going to be because of you. Now go sit down and eat a sandwich."

McLouth might be the pirates biggest offensive threat
thats really not good, such a classy franchise being this bad.
by Joe Beimel's Shot Glass on Apr 14, 2008 9:11 PM PDT reply actions
That's Because He's Part Of Your Crappy Fantasy Outfield.
Why, for the love of God, did you draft him AND Brad Hawpe?
by Tango and Cash on Apr 14, 2008 9:13 PM PDT up reply actions
Because I'm just that awesome, and McLouth is really undervalued. But mainly the awesome.
Co-Author Of The Fourth Most Popular NL West Based Blog On SBN
Case in point, I could have had Nate McLouth or Eric Chavez, Al Reyes, or Kaz Matsui.

Dunn-Milledge-Kemp-J. Upton-Hart-Braun-Andruw Jones, although I start Braun at 3B.

I Like Yours.
Nobody ever drafts Burrell in any league I'm in until late, and I never understand that. He's underrated because of that crap season he had 3-4 years ago.

I Think Steiner Just Unleashed A Veiled Criticism at Drew
As he said "there are certain players will sit out if they have a headache," and he said it in such a tone that it sounded like he was referring to somebody who was or is on the team, and I just figured it was Drew.
Uh oh
Nomar 3 for 3 in a AAA rehab tonight. Not only is he coming back soon, but they'll wanna *play* him ...
Nomar's Starting
Regardless of how poorly he does on his rehab assignment. Then DeWitt can be sent down to AAA.
