Game Thread 14: Pittsburgh Pirates

Pittsburgh Pirates at Los Angeles Dodgers, Apr 15, 2008 7:10 PM PDT

Going to try a little expirement and see if opening this thing earlier encourages more comments.

Hong-Chih Kuo gets his first scheduled start of the year tonight against Matt Morris. Here's hoping he does well tonight so we never have to see Chan Ho in the rotation.

Bucs Dugout is recreating the Worst GM tournament I did a couple years back. I think they're being a little harsh on Ned, but what do I know? Head down there and show your support for your favorite candidate.

Also, Since the Game Isn't On Yet

Let me riff on Golden Crisp for a second. Can whoever makes that (Post?) make it so it doesn’t get soggy within 5 seconds of pouring milk on it?

And today I learn they still make Golden Grahams.

Few days ago. Granted, from Trader Joes.

Who's Worse than Ned?

Arguably no GM has been given more and done less with it.

by JLS23 on Apr 15, 2008 6:46 PM PDT reply actions

I would have seeded Bavasi, Krivski, Wade, Sabean, Daniels, Williams, and maybe Riccardi ahead of him, at least.

Bowden too, at least as a life time achievement award.

I don’t know about Williams. He’s made some better moves than Colletti, but he also traded Chris Young, although Javier Vazquez is at least good. I say he’s better.

by Tango and Cash on Apr 15, 2008 6:56 PM PDT up reply actions

His suicidal run at contention this year knocked him way down, despite some previous good work.

I Thought The Swisher Trade Was Good.

And it’s not like they had a lot of good prospects.

by Tango and Cash on Apr 15, 2008 7:03 PM PDT up reply actions

If they were contending I would have liked it, but the team just had so much ground to make up on the Tigers and Indians that selling the farm just wasn’t a good idea.

And the other guy they dealt. They really should have been selling hard this winter.

You’re right, though. They should have been selling.

I’m going to guess ESPN’s game cast is screwed up when it keeps showing balls going right down the middle.

If Kuo gets out of the 3rd unscathed, the next inning will probably be his last.

by Tango and Cash on Apr 15, 2008 8:18 PM PDT reply actions

He used to walk a lot so he was able to stick around for a bit, now every team needs someone to be the crappy utility guy and Gomez has been there before, so why not?

What

do you guys play in, 8 man leagues. Step up to the big leagues boys and play in a mixed 21 game league where your not talking about Cueto on the waiver wire but Loiaza.
When your sporting all-star rosters what’s the point?

If it makes you feel any better, I’ve got my choice of Tad Iguchi and Jacque Jones on waivers.

Great night

for the top of the order…kuo had me nervous early on but I love to see kent ethier and raffy swinging the bat. I really hope this gives Fatman, who I’ll refer to as Druw tonight, a little confidence especially with ATL on the horizon, and that he starts moving forward. And finally, JLo keeping it alive again, lets get another W tomorrow night boys!
