Just visiting

Billingsley looked pretty nasty there. He’s whiffing 13 batters per nine innings, though his walk rate is very high.

Jim Hendry would fix that by sending him down.

And Dusty Baker would fix that by leaving him out there to throw 130 pitches.

Ugh

I guess Furcal’s BABIP isn’t catching up to him just yet.

by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 7:18 PM PDT reply reply   0 recs

Don’t need to worry about it when it’s not IP.

I wanna be like

Furcal when I grow up

I’m amazed something good happened when I wasn’t watching.

New York fans being jerks when one of their players has minor struggles? I never.

Who's that?

Though, it’s true. Mets fans are very quick to boo, which is troubling and sad and reflects poorly on us as a whole.

by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 7:35 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Delgado, but Dodger fans are just as bad if not worse.

What's the prognosis on Jason Schmidt?

I don’t even remember what he looks like anymore.

by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 7:36 PM PDT reply reply   0 recs

He’s throwing in simulated games right now but all we know is that he won’t be ready by May 16th.

Never really had one. There was some talk he would be ready at the start of the season, but nothing was ever concrete.

I’ve read he might be back in early June.

Now this is the guy with the fluke BABIP right here.

by Andrew on May 5, 2008 7:43 PM PDT reply reply   0 recs

Wait

Are you suggesting that his 9.2% LD rate doesn’t support his .338 BABIP? Pshaw.

by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 7:44 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

At least he’s proved that he’s clearly better than Andy “He Had His Chance And He Blew It” LaRoche.

Yea, what happened to that guy? All those years we thought that Adam was the overhyped LaRoche.

by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 7:49 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

He gets hurt at really inopportune times. And then we jerk him around a lot.

Eric,

Andrew was being sarcastic. He loves Andy LaRoche. I only warn you so he doesn’t yell at you and then break something.

We’ve been there. Maybe not on Andy LaRoche level, but I feel your pain.

Alright, the Party’s here. Commence discussion.

by Tango and Cash on May 5, 2008 7:45 PM PDT reply reply   0 recs

Has anyone seen the new trailer for the Dark Knight? I’ve never been more excited for a movie in my life.

Also, I recommend Iron Man. It’s entertaining.

by Tango and Cash on May 5, 2008 7:48 PM PDT reply reply   0 recs

I’m really surprised about all the love for Iron Man. I was thinking it would be worse than Hulk.

by Andrew on May 5, 2008 7:52 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

The 2003 Hulk? I still refuse to watch that movie. Or the new Hulk?

Robert Downey Jr. makes the movie, I think. He’s probably the best actor to be in any of these marvel superhero movies, and it certainly shows.

by Tango and Cash on May 5, 2008 7:54 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

2003. I mainly remember the friend that dragged us there saying “I’m sorry” the second the credits rolled.

by Andrew on May 5, 2008 7:55 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I remember my best friend was pumped to see it because it was a superhero movie, and I remember seeing the preview and how dumb it looked (particularly the gamma ray dogs or whatever they were). And I kept on warning him not to see it. The first thing he said after he came back to it was “You were right.”

by Tango and Cash on May 5, 2008 7:56 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Dang, we could have got him there.

So does Ethier sit for Pierre when there’s a “tough lefty?”

by Tango and Cash on May 5, 2008 8:01 PM PDT reply reply   0 recs

I think since Kemp and Pierre are red hot and Jones makes a lot of money Ethier gets it in the shorts.

by Andrew on May 5, 2008 8:03 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Pierre's been getting on base

Still no power, in the bat or the arm. Ethier should be getting most of the starts, no?

by Eric Simon on May 5, 2008 8:04 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Of course, and to Torre’s credit Ethier has gotten more plate appearances than any of our outfielders.

It’s just that when you give 44 million to a one tool player, you end up being forced into some bad decisions.

Hopefully, another team will want him eventually.

by Tango and Cash on May 5, 2008 8:11 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

The Padres legitimately need Juan Pierre, but we wouldn’t trade with them.

Plus there’s guy like Rajai Davis getting DFAed all the time, so that makes things harder.

by Andrew on May 5, 2008 8:14 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

If a trade is beneficial between both teams, there shouldn’t be any problem with trading with the Padres. I wish teams would stop caring so much about trading within the division.

Whole dugout was completely silent once Dewitt made it back to the bench. They mobbed him five seconds later.

It’s getting to the point where I’m happy to see Andruw hit into a double play because at least he hit it hard.

I

have to agree with Vin, the bats being used to today are awful, I see a broken one almost every game

by EdfromAZ on May 5, 2008 9:22 PM PDT reply reply   0 recs

Wow

with the Phillies win we are only 3 out of the division, how quickly things can change…I hope we can remain at this level of play consistently, the bats were great at home again.

a happy cinco de drinko to all.

O.A.

andruw over ethier?

can somebody please explain why andruw is still starting? over ethier no less. can’t they send him down to the minors till he “figures” his swing out?
