If Joe Torre is batting DeWitt 8th, why not just put LaRoche in the lineup?

LaRoche killed his dog

and deflowered his daughter.

I think Joe Torre has Dusty Baker Syndrome. It’s where everyone thinks you’re a good manager because you manage a team so great that it would be nearly impossible to lose with them. Once that manager switches to a lesser team, his flaws are exposed. In Torre’s case, it’s not even doing the main thing a baseball manager is supposed to do: putting your best lineup on the field.

I think his pre Yankees managing record

pretty much reflects his abilities. 5 winning seasons in something like 14 years as a manager.

I think he’s pretty much mentally retired at this point.

Is anybody watching this game? I want to know why a) Jones was trying to steal and b) how bad he was out.

is laroche in the doghouse?

because we have many wily veterans loaded with intangibles you guys could use for him. Frankly, it pisses me off seeing talented prospects wasted on other teams rosters, while we suck, it just doesn’t seem fair.
I suggest Emil Brown and Bobby Crosby for LaRoche and Kemp, we’ll even sweeten the pot by throwing in Blanton who isn’t as bad as it seems this year.
