in 07 he gave up 8 runs one, 7 runs twice and 6 runs 4 times.

Ah in 05 he gave up 9 runs in a game:

Eckstein is an improvement. He has no range, no arm and very little offense.

what about Yuniesky Betancourt?

best available

He (McDOnald) doesnt hit, but he’ll save runs which will be key in Aug/Sept.

by Dodger Tom on Jul 21, 2008 6:58 PM PDT up reply actions

Maybe he could start by firing Joe Torre.

by Tango and Cash on Jul 21, 2008 6:55 PM PDT up reply actions

torre

Fire Torre?? He’s a keeper in my opinion. Colletti on the other hand …

by Dodger Tom on Jul 21, 2008 6:57 PM PDT up reply actions

Eh

Torre is the wrong manager for this team.

The poster formerly known as Matt.

by bluemax on Jul 21, 2008 6:58 PM PDT up reply actions

Torre is a pretty bad manager

whose success primarily lies upon having the highest payroll in the bigs and a team of all stars.

The poster formerly known as Matt.

by bluemax on Jul 21, 2008 7:02 PM PDT up reply actions

If Torre can’t figure out that LaRoche needs to start over DeWitt, and that we don’t need a vet 3B and that LaRoche should be starting for OUR TEAM, as Torre refuses to grant, then he doesn’t deserve to be the Dodgers’ manager.

by Tango and Cash on Jul 21, 2008 6:59 PM PDT up reply actions

When LaRoche was out, DeWitt played well. What’s wrong with getting both guys action?

by Dodger Tom on Jul 21, 2008 7:01 PM PDT up reply actions

DeWitt needs to be in the minors. He’s overmatched in the majors.

by Tango and Cash on Jul 21, 2008 7:02 PM PDT up reply actions

Personally, I think Torre is the reason DeWitt is still on the team because he really loves DeWitt because he’s a ‘ballplayer,’ but DeWitt needs to develop still. And if Colletti doesn’t send him down, we might have just wasted a lot of talent in Blake DeWitt.

by Tango and Cash on Jul 21, 2008 7:05 PM PDT up reply actions

That’d be like McCourt firing Ned last year.

Do you think Plaschke’s face turns red everytime LaRoche walks, muttering to himself “A real ballplayer wouldn’t do that.”

by Tango and Cash on Jul 21, 2008 7:01 PM PDT reply actions

DeWitt just needs a few more weeks to work his way out of a nine week slump, I know it.

Co-Author Of The Fourth Most Popular NL West Based Blog On SBN

by Andrew on Jul 21, 2008 7:02 PM PDT up reply actions

For a guy who’s overmatched at the MLB level, DeWitt’s numbers aint too bad. Who did they have to replace him while LaRoche was on the DL?

by Dodger Tom on Jul 21, 2008 7:05 PM PDT up reply actions

No one, but at this point his overall numbers have dropped to Juan Pierre levels. He’s OPSing .524 since May 17th.

DeWitt’s initial hot streak saved us from Brandon Inge, but he’s killing us now.

by Andrew on Jul 21, 2008 7:07 PM PDT up reply actions

If he’s killing us, then what is Jones doing??? :-)

by Dodger Tom on Jul 21, 2008 7:09 PM PDT up reply actions

The difference is we have a guy that can replace DeWitt at 3B.
