Maddux Probably A Dodger

An anonymous source is reporting that the Dodgers have acquired Greg Maddux for...something. Since the LA Times is making this claim, I think it's worth mentioning, but I'll wait until something official pops up before reacting.

Update>>My completely unsourced guess says that Justin Orenduff will be the one going. He's been terrible this year with a 6.88 ERA so he's probably getting booted off the 40 man this offseason. The Padres might like him because he's one of Paul DePodesta's first round picks, and moving from Vegas to Petco would do a lot to reduce the 23 home runs he's given up in 102 innings this year. Again, this is nothing but a guess on my part.

I can’t wait until Plaschke’s next article about how great this trade is gets lampooned on FJM.

Wow

kinda crazy that the Padres would deal with a division rival. I guess DePo is more interested in improving his team or something.

I’m excited that we’re getting Maddux, beats the crap out of Jason Johnson/Eric Stults every 5th day. Plus hopefully he can impart some wisdom on Kershaw and Billingsley.

If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.

But is he better than McDonald?

If we gave up Orenduff like I think, I’m okay with this. I wouldn’t expect anything more than a minor upgrade over Johnson though.

Good point

if its McDonald then its not really as good of a trade.

If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.

What happens

if Penny is able to come back this season? Who gets bumped? Kershaw to the pen?

If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.

Probably. He’s supposedly on an inning limit anyway.

Padres radio is reporting it’s for a PTBNL.
