You bounce back and forth
Maria McKee was easy to have a crush on. I also was into Martha Davis for a while.
What are you old guys talking about? Unless it’s Dazed and Confused, which I’ve been told is essentially a documentary of the 70’s high school life, I don’t want to hear it.

re:
I was dazed and confused in junior high school. By high school I was less dazed but still confused. Besides these are the 80’s, you couldn’t get into these clubs unless you were 21.
I was right to obsess about double plays :)

You only obsess
about them with players you want to make a point against. If it was LaRoche you would call it bad luck.
Yeah, probably.
Seeing Loney as the least valuable offensive first baseman in the league sort of made me pay more attention to them though. Probably one of those things that only matter at the extremes.

No leader board though…
If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.
Interesting

His LD% is down, his FB% up and his HR/BIA is half of his previous two years.
In short he’s not driving the ball as much and he’s not hitting as many homers when he hits it in the air.
If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.
Just another day for the Dodgers.
If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.
Ethier is a triple away
from the cycle and we’re only in the 5th.

re:
Two doubles and a home run. I trusted your info and you made me look stupid. I hate it when that happens more then 10 times a day.
Aww whoops
I only glanced at the box score. This is what I get for being busy/lazy.
If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.
It has online?
Are you sure?
If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.
Well, it has multiplayer, which I assumed was online. How do you play multiplayer?
by Tango and Cash on Aug 27, 2008 6:03 PM PDT up reply actions
Depends upon the kind of multiplayer
Probably start the multiplayer mode and if its single cart then have the other person boot their DS to the DS config screen or whatever and have them choose Download Play.
If its multi cart then you need more than one copy of the game.

Hey!
We got a break! Is this where we break out?

Amazing...
Doesn’t matter how hard we hit it, if we don’t hit it out of the ballpark its gonna get caught.

Hmm
.299 BABIP, we’re not that bad.
If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.
How dare you try to block my frustrated feelings with logic and reason!! We are getting cheated I say, CHEATED!!! : )
by Brendan Scolari on Aug 27, 2008 6:37 PM PDT up reply actions
Well maybe tonight
out BABIP is low, but on the season it is not that bad.

Terrible AB by Nomar. I really hope I don’t type that sentence again.

I’m happy I’m only getting updates once a minute

What?
You’re not watching? How dare you…
P.S. If Sweeney gets a hit because you’ll hear a very loud scream. Yes, no matter where you are.

I'm betting Andrew is in the same position I am
stuck at work still.

The curse of being "old"
Student loans don’t pay themselves!

Growing up sucks. My freinds wanted me to play beer pong at 11 last night and i had to say no.

I thought I'd finally get to have hobbies again
when I graduated from college, but I work so much that I’m too burned out to want to do much when I get home.

JC
Still at JC, no loans yet! A couple of years though…

Don’t you guys mean nerds working for the nerd patrol?! Wait, my degrees are in philosophy. Nevermind. Carry on.

It really impresses ladies when I tell them I have a cubicle.

All I need to do is go into a hipster coffee shop and say “Quite Frankly, everything Karl Marx says is important!” Then if that doesn’t work, you always go to Nietszche. He’s the god of hipsters.
by Tango and Cash on Aug 27, 2008 7:01 PM PDT up reply actions
You wouldn’t even have to read any of his books. You just need to carry one around into a hipster establishment, then either start (pretending to) reading it, or just make sure everyone can see you have it. Then some hipster girl will come up to talk to you about him, just agree with everything she says, and in 15 minutes, you’ll have a date to go to a peace rally, or go recycling or something.

I've seen this mentioned a lot
but I wonder if anyone really honestly has tried this.
If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.
You could get screwed because a lot of professional philosophers study Nietszche and if you talk to them, they’ll figure out your act in 5 seconds.

We're over the 2 month mark now for crunch
and the project is very very late.

You win. I’m just working for a meeting that will get canceled.

FWIW
my normal hours are 11-7 so I’d be at work this late anyhow. And lately I’ve only been staying only 2 extra hours. It has been about a month since I stayed much later than 9.
If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.
A nice benefit of working until 8:30 or 9:00 every night is that I can stroll in here an hour late every day and no one cares.

When we started crunching
they stopped caring about the length of our lunches. Albeit a lot of us just worked through lunch anyhow.

Forget Obama and McCain
Casey for Prez!!! Way to crush that one Casey!!!

Fact or Fiction
letting the pitcher hit would probably be better than letting Sweeney hit.
If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.
I think the walks are more a sign of his complete loss of confidence
in his swing. He goes up there hoping the pitcher misses enough to not make him look bad.
If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.
Fair enough
I guess he’s contributing something now.

I predict
Grand slam. For the sake of optimism.

The Asian guy knocking over the turntables?

Just in case
I lied when I said Casey hit it hard. It was a broken bat bloop into left. So we actually got a break for once.

Argh...
Ethier swung at an obvious ball four when he grounded out. Shades of Kemp yesterday.
by Brendan Scolari on Aug 27, 2008 7:03 PM PDT reply actions
At least the D-Backs didn't gain ground.
If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.
Yeah, but the schedule keeps getting shorter and shorter
We need to win the series vs. the D-Backs, not split.

Wow..
Versus the Nationals…
Back to a previous point, our team BABIP may be .299, but when you’re hitting .100 as a team with RISP, you are getting unlucky. We are getting plenty of baserunners, they’re just getting evenly spread throughout the game instead of clustering up in some innings.
I don’t know whether to be more frustrated by the hitting or the fielding. Which is worse, bad luck keeping you out of the playoffs or bad defense?
