It’s amazing that Manny might not be the best midseason acquisition this year.

Did anyone go to the game last night

I scalped tickets and ended up spending more on parking ($15) than tickets ($8). Crazy.

If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.

by bluemax on Sep 2, 2008 7:34 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah, it’s not right that you could buy three tickets for the cost of parking and a beer.

Is it true

that they doubled the cost from last year? Seems insanely high.

As much walking around as I did trying to find where I parked after I might have to research safe places to park outside of the stadium that are free.

If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.

by bluemax on Sep 2, 2008 7:51 PM PDT up reply actions

Went from 8-10-15 in McCourts first years. I’m not up on good outside the stadium places.

Kershaw seems very good against AA hitters.

Remember when Ethier couldn't buy a start?

and now he leads the team in Homers and without looking most likely triples?

Loney somehow has a ton of them this year.

I knew that

just couldn’t remember who had more. Point is maybe we’d be in a better position had Ethier got more playing time early on.

If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.

Anything that involves less Juan Pierre is probably a good thing.

Tecmo is so horribly broken

I played a roster update version and realized how broken and not particularly fun it is. I think this one was better left to nostalgia.

If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.

by bluemax on Sep 2, 2008 8:21 PM PDT up reply actions

You mean you played a copy of the new one?

by Tango and Cash on Sep 2, 2008 8:22 PM PDT up reply actions

Nah

there’s people that romhacked the old one to have 32 teams and modern day rosters.

I was averaging 500 yards a game rushing with LT.

If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.

This does a pretty good job at explaining why Tecmo Bowl won’t get old:

I’m rapidly finding myself agreeing with this:

What? You got a job already? You fucking idiot. The average child now leaves his parents’ house at age 26 (46 if you blog). Why are you heading out the door so soon? Where you gotta be? Your parents could already afford American college, the most ludicrous expense on Planet Earth. Milk that fucking teat a little more. If you can’t finagle a year backpacking in Europe when you get out of school, or a year "tutoring" 18-year-old ski bunnies at Breckenridge, or a year scooping ice cream in Hilton Head, YOU HAVE FUCKING FAILED LIFE.

I’m not sure why they don’t just put all the old NFL players in Tecmo Bowl DS that were in the original. You don’t have an NFL license anyway and they aren’t on any teams.

Inland Empire

I know everyone’s gone to bed now, but …. if you’re still up and care about Single-A ball, Inland Empire is fighting Rancho Cucamonga for the last California League post-season spot.

They’re playing a one-game playoff and they’re tied 6-6 in the bottom of the 9th!! Catch the audio feed from ie66ers.com, it’s been a barn-burner.

Have I been bashing

LaRoche? Just because Marte is outhitting him for the honor to be called the biggest prospect bust of the 21st century is hardly bashing him.

At some point he is going to go off or we are going to find out, he and his brother are big time stoners and the worse thing they could have done was partner them together.

I don’t want to say anything nice about DeWitt and his play at 2nd so far. The last time I commented on how well Nomar was looking he decided to turn into a piece of crap.

There is usually a reason when someone takes a lousy picture 95% of the time…

Think outside the L'oreal's Feria color matrix

when someone asks what color you used, you don’t have to answer with what was on the box. You are free to call it whatever you like depending on the situation.
