So

did anyone see FJM take on Slimers?

If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.

Yeah, they kinda blew that, didn’t they?

Politics

I wish they would just leave the politics out of it. It had nothing to do with the article.

ZOMG no politics

is a good policy.

They haven't been trying as hard lately

I think they’re giving up, or busy writing the Office.

There really wasn’t a lot they could do with this one. They aren’t Dodgers’ fans and don’t read Simers, so they don’t know that his articles are satire 90% of the time.

by Tango and Cash on Sep 3, 2008 7:30 PM PDT up reply actions

I suppose that is true

You have to know Slimers style.

If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.

They acknowledge it’s probably sarcasm, but then they rip on him anyway. I’m confused.

They’ve done that before, where they acknowledged an article is so over the top that it might be specifically baiting them in order that all the people who read FJM go to that site and read the article, thus getting more hits. But they’ve never dealt with an article where it looks half satire/ half genuine.

So, when Ned Colletti wins GM of the Year, it will beg the question — has a GMOY ever been fired in the same season that he won the award? Or does this mean that he’s going to have a blank check to do whatever the heck he wants next year?

by Tango and Clash on Sep 3, 2008 8:02 PM PDT reply actions

A blank check is what the Dodgers need, so I’d be okay with that.

Co-Author Of The Fourth Most Popular NL West Based Blog On SBN

by Andrew on Sep 3, 2008 8:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Do you want Ned Colletti writing that check? I sure don’t.

by Tango and Clash on Sep 3, 2008 8:05 PM PDT up reply actions

If he doesn’t make the playoffs, I think he’s gone. And that’s why I won’t be too mad if the Dodgers miss the playoffs.

by Tango and Cash on Sep 3, 2008 8:03 PM PDT up reply actions

I feel the same way. I know it’s heresy, but I think the Dodgers would be better off long-term if they miss the playoffs this year.

by Tango and Clash on Sep 3, 2008 8:06 PM PDT up reply actions

Sadly I agree

I want the Dodgers to make the playoffs, but there’s no way its good in the long run.

If it wasn't for college football I'd probably have given up on sports.

by bluemax on Sep 3, 2008 8:07 PM PDT up reply actions

Unfortunately, its probably truw. But what if they miss the playoffs and Colletti stays anyway. That would really hurt.

by Brendan Scolari on Sep 3, 2008 9:21 PM PDT up reply actions

I think we’re constrained enough this offseason that Ned couldn’t hurt anything really. We simply can’t give up talent right now.

I believe it’s one for the entire MLB. I believe it’s called the “Executive of the Year” award.

by Tango and Cash on Sep 3, 2008 8:08 PM PDT up reply actions

So you’re saying that there’s still a chance that Colletti will be fired???

I find it hard to believe that Depo lasted 1 year, and Colletti could stay for 5.

by Tango and Clash on Sep 3, 2008 8:09 PM PDT up reply actions

Well, less than 2 years, but DePo was here 2 seasons. Next season will be Colletti’s 4th. If he doesn’t get fired.
