You can not stop Angel Berroa, you can only hope to contain him.

Thats some terrible defense out there.

I forgot how much Haren contributed to the A’s lead in bad facial hair. There’s a reason why calling my buddy “Dan Haren” is meant as a burn.

He also probably plays guitar badly. I hate how every white guy on the A’s plays guitar. They probably all sit around and sing John Mayer songs terribly. It’s like having 5 Bronson Arroyos on your team.

I’d prefer to call it a Buzz Ballad.

Things that don’t mix: wild berry Juice Squeeze and 99 oranges. Tastes exactly like cough syrup.

What is Juice Squeeze? That sounds like it’s for 10 year olds.

Alright, I’m back. Just got back from Tropic Thunder.

Fantastic. If you’re a film buff, there’s also a lot of small burns throughout the movie that you’ll get. Like they showed these fake trailers of the main actors, and Robert Downey Jr’s artsy movie was made by “Fox Searchlight Pictures.” I laughed at that, but nobody else did. It was funny, damn it!

“Milton Bradley for Andre Ethier, that was quite a trade”
For who?
Co-Author Of The Fourth Most Popular NL West Based Blog On SBN
I’m not so torn up about the trade because I don’t think Milton will ever stay healthy.

I agree partially, but it wasn’t the huge win it’s made out to be. Bradley has like twice the VORP of Ethier since he left.

But it is highly problematic for your team when you don’t know when you’re getting his great seasons and when you’re getting him for 60 games a season.

Very true, but it’s hard to call yourself the clear winner of a trade where you give up the second best player in the AL.

Let’s hope he gets in a bar fight and makes us look smart again.

He’s the new veteran leadership of the team.

I mean Kemp seems the obvious choice here.

I got to waste my time today arguing that trading a guy who had better numbers than LaPorta at age 22 for Blake was retarded, so he’s given us that.

You have no idea how much we over at LGT hero-worship Santana. Unless you’ve read some of the posts. I feel for you; I’d hate to be in your place.
I mean, you’d think people would recognize average hit + bad defense = not very good player, but nope.
“But he only has one error!”

Blake could be extremely valuable in the OF, where he’d be a plus-defender in RF with “suber-sub” abilities on his off-days (LF, 1B, 3B). But, no, there’s something managers see when they look into those eyes and see that beard. Gritty. Oh so gritty!
I didn’t see that DP live, but I bet it sure was scrappy. And gritty.

If the D-Backs made the playoffs, at least we’d get a new bunch of Eckstein articles in FJM.

I had no idea they were being no-hit. That’s pretty sweet.

You think I’d disrespect the only player who was ‘gritty’ and was actually good at playing baseball?

If my name was Bill Buckner and I wanted to play in the MLB, I’d do more than just call myself “Billy.” Maybe William. Or Liam.

Is this the first time Berroa’s ever been in intentionally walked?

That’s absurd.

I’m sure there was a very good reason to do it.
Hell, I remember intentionally walking Izturis a few times.

Hey, he didn’t suck back then. One of the few guys to be amazing only when he’s on my fantasy team.

He was my favorite Indian when he was on the team. Unfortunately, he ultimately turned out to truly be just a fourth outfielder.
As long as he can play great D in CF, I don’t think he’ll ever be a 4th OF, like Willy Taveras.

but that OPS…so horrid…
I dunno. I guess I feel like today’s CFers hit better than that, even those who are starting because of their gloves.
Or maybe Sizemore has completely ruined my ability to think about this issue.
Both play much better D than Sizemore, though. His D in CF actually looks to be slightly below average.

Even some Indians fans are saying this, and I just don’t get it. Evaluating defense always seems to go like this:
Nationally unknown player has stellar defense.
Player becomes a national star.
Player’s defense is now considered over-rated.
It’s like the indie-rock rule of defense, and it makes me inherently skeptical of defensive ratings. I’ll go look up some defensive metrics on him.
Who’s defense is overrated? Sizemore’s?

How many catchable balls you catch above average.
If you make a play someone missed, you get +1, if you miss a play someone made, -1.

Ethier’s got one more chance at a triple.

My gameday froze, but I can tell now he didn’t hit a triple.
