Elimination watch, 9/7/08

No newly eliminated AL teams yet, tho the Indians and Tigers have joined the Royals, Orioles, A's and Rangers in the club of teams w/ a Tragic Number under 10.

In the NL, the Braves and Pirates are very close so this week we'll see Sid Bream stumble around 3rd and finish them both off.  Other NL teams w/ Tragic Numbers under 10: Reds and Giants.

Teams already eliminated: Mariners, Nationals

The Giants' tragic number to finish with a worse record than the Dodgers is 11.

Dodgers' best possible record: 92-70
Dodgers' worst possible record: 72-90

After today's game, the Dodgers only face teams whose record is sub-.500.  "So what?" you may ask, knowing that last week the Dodgers were in the same boat.  But these four teams (Padres, Giants, Pirates, Rockies) are an average of 20 games under .500.  Hope this doesn't jinx it....
