Lima was at home
in front of 55,000 standing fans from pitch one to the end of the game against a team who was 2 games up. What Padilla is doing in St Louis to a team that has to win is even more impressive.

Cardinals haven't even really put up much of a fight in htis game so far.
Did they go into the postseason struggling? Because they are not playing like a team that was going into the series playing at all well.

And the remarkable thing about him is, when I first saw him in a game, something kept nagging at me that was very familiar – I didn’t realize what it was until I read an interview with him where he talked about watching video of Sergei Fedorov when he was young. His skating stride is vintage mid-90’s Fedorov – smooth, quick, effortless, and graceful with an explosive component that is beautiful to watch.

I barely pay any attention whatsoever to the National League.
AL teams are more relevant to my Tigers. I only knew about Pujols because of previous bad experience and the ESPN lovefest.

and even though he was overpaid he was the best option.

He was hitting.
They didn’t have much choice. But Illitch hadn’t hesitated to pay players that would produce.

They didn't really have a choice
The Tigers were in a pennant race and after the All-Star Break, Maggs still didn’t hit for power, but his average picked up considerably. He did finish the season at .310.
And yes, Inge is overpaid, but he’s really fun to watch at third base.

Don't say bad things about our Brandon.
He is overpaid, but we love him. And he survived 2003 without having his spirits crushed. :)

for all those that say,
“Well we can’t keep ALL the kids when they reach 6 years”, I say that any team that can afford $18 million for O-Dog and Pierre, not too mention $however many for Schmidt and (spit) Jones, we can afford to keep ALL the kids in 2011. No more excessive free agents, and that’s all there is to it…
