NLCS Game 1 Chat

Philadelphia Phillies at Los Angeles Dodgers, Oct 15, 2009 5:07 PM PDT

The Dodgers and Phillies are set for the first NLCS rematch since 2005 (Astros/Cardinals).  Speaking of the Cardinals, I wrote a NLDS review for The Hardball Times, which can be read here, as well as an NLCS preview here.  I also answered some questions from Whole Camels over on The Good Phight.

Here are the lineups for Game 1:

Phillies      Dodgers
SS Rollins
SS Furcal
CF Victorino
RF Ethier
2B Utley LF Manny
1B Howard CF Kemp
RF Werth
3B Blake
LF Ibañez
1B Loney
3B Feliz
2B Belliard
C Ruiz C Martin
P Hamels

I hate this “let’s build playoff momentum by taking a break for several days” business. :(

I hope the league doesnt delay any of the games just cuz of the fucking rain

we’ve already had more than enough off days for a baseball postseason. Besides its just the friggin rain! lol. Football players go out there and play in friggin 20 degrees with snow storms! Now you know why baseball has that stereotype of players being pussies.

by desecrator09 on Oct 15, 2009 4:53 PM PDT reply actions

Well, they're not going to delay 10 games because it's raining

Just one. Besides, football players wear a lot of pads and baseball players don’t even all wear cups.

by StolenMonkey86 on Oct 15, 2009 4:55 PM PDT up reply actions

come on man

theres still ALOT more risk of injury playin fuckin football than baseball. Thats pretty obvious. And they dont need delay anymore games just cuz of a little rain. Suck it up and play some Major League playoff ball!

From the is Bill Plaschke paying attention department

via Twitter.

From the Dodgers, at 5:05:

“The Infield” just threw out the first pitch: Russell, Cey, Garvey and a ‘visiting’ Lopes

From Plaschke, seconds later

Three-fourths of great Dodger infield threw out first pitch — Ron Cey, Bill Russell, Steve Garvey…where was Davey Lopes?..

I just don't like Bradley

It may not be entirely rational, but he falls into the category of “players I do not want on my team and if management gets stupid and picks them up anyway, I will cheer for him to get a series of minor injuries so he is never in the lineup and I can pretend he doesn’t exist.”
