So do you think they’ll bring JB back to pitch the 10th after they tie it up in the 9th?

by KellyStephen on Oct 15, 2009 8:59 PM PDT reply actions

The Phillies have 8 walks, and 4 of them have scored. Five, if you count that Hamels was forced at 2B by Rollins, who later scored.

And Blake has been completely worthless this game. If Blake gets 1 hit this game we could be down a run or tied.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to join you tomorrow

I don’t know why they decided on a 4:07 start time, but I’ll be at work then and it’s bound to be super chaotic (Fridays at the pharmacy usually are), so I’ll probably see you guys again this weekend.

Ugh

All we did was blast Stl fans for bashing the umpires for strike zones etc. We lose a game and resort to the very same thing we bashed them for. That’s kinda embarrassing.

by Broxrox on Oct 15, 2009 9:21 PM PDT up reply actions

Personally, I am not blaming the loss on the umpiring. I said it was equally as bad for both teams. We didn’t lose because of the umps, they just changed the environment of the game.
vr, Xei

by Xeifrank on Oct 15, 2009 9:23 PM PDT up reply actions

Ugh

I don’t get you guys. We sweep a team we have ZERO business sweeping and play awesome in our first series. We lose game 1 of a 7 game series and all of a sudden Torre can’t judge a pitcher. I am starting to see why people outside of LA think we are freaking idiots.

by Broxrox on Oct 15, 2009 9:31 PM PDT up reply actions   1 recs

Regardless

Some are doing the very same thing we blasted Cardinal fans for. For that it makes it embarrassing. I want us to win as much as the next guy, but it’s funny how quickly everyones attitude changes and now we are the getting the shaft so to speak. We got outplayed, and beat flat out.

All kinds of lamentations from this game

Among them, I have to wonder again why Torre put Elbert on the roster over Weaver and then didn’t go to him to face Howard when Kershaw was gassed.

Oh well…guess we’ll just have to win the series 4-1 now.

by insomniacslounge on Oct 15, 2009 9:22 PM PDT reply actions

I think Kershaw pitched Howard well. Struck him out twice. Once on a check swing, and once based on the “pitch tracker” on the next pitch.

some people vent, i agree. I find it counterproductive. Whatever. You’re right tomorrow is a new day. Personally I just think it is unfortuante that the hitters put up 6 runs and the pitchers had an off night. This game is not nearly as discouraging as it could have been. we were 1 hit witht he bases juiced from tying it, or 2 hits in multiple innings, or 1 jack. Really the playoffs sometimes hinge on one or two plays. Lets make those plays tomorrow.

i feel so dirty for actually being a little happy for their long suffering fans last year. now I want them to lose 10000 NFC championships, have all their closers be the reincarnation of Mitch Williams, and see their next ten marquee Sixers free agent signings tear their acls…

to me they are just the fans who boo all their athletes and throw batteries.

im so bummed right now....

It seems like we outplayed the Phillies… more hits, equal amt of home runs, very good defense… pitching was very very good for 7 innings and even bad pitching shouldn’t yield so many runs… this team gave up 8 runs 3 times in the last two months!

really sad. if the game was played 1000 timeswith the same performance (but not same outcomes) several times, at least 51% of the time the Dodgers win.

now I have a fucking calculus midterm to prepare for and its at 1 PM tomorrow…. goddamn the idiots who put this game at 1:00.

in my mind it is that walk to Hamels that really hurts more than anything. Kershaw is awe inspiring at times when he is missing bats but his youth really showed in walking the pitcher. if you have to throw a BP fastball to him to get it over than do it.
