LA Times finds Writer Dumber than Planche? Poll

Houston Mitchel wrote the following online poll on the LA Times sports blog.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2009/10/tuesdays-poll-do-the-dodgers-need-a-new-closer.html

Vote now and let your voice be heard, then leave a comment letting us know why you voted the way you did.

Do the Dodgers need a new closer?
Yes. Broxton is overrated. Make Sherrill or someone else on staff the closer.
Yes. Sign a free-agent closer or trade for one during the off-season.
No. Broxton should stay.

I am not sure who this genius thinks the Dodgers could possibly trade for (not to mention who he would give up), but after reading this drivel, I decide I needed to conduct my own poll to help readers to be better able to convey there feelings about Houston as obviously there is some technical malfunction not allowing the LA Times to post comments.

Poll
Is Houston Mitchel dumber than Planche?
Its too close to call, Planche and Houston probably car pool.
9 votes
Dumb, but he can probably brush his teeth in the morning with a minimal amount of assistance.

I don't really care, but I wouldn't swerve my car out of the way if I saw him jaywalking.
1 votes
No, he is just a self-serving jerk trying to drum up controversy.
3 votes
No jerk, having the best closer in your Leauge is a terrible idea and we should try to emulate the Cubs.
2 votes
No, he is an upstanding citizen, and I don't like you.

Where did they find this guy? The LA Times needs to start recruiting Jr. High School students to replace these guys while keeping costs down.
7 votes
Yes, I know this must of been a hard search, but congratulations, you've done what I didn't think was ever possible.

um not sherrill for closer

his fast ball is in the low 90s and occasionally 80s… NO way
brox is our closer
though Kuo for road closer isnt too farfetched
but i dont know

Because when I think of Boris Diaw, I think of Beethoven and the age of Romanticism....

does it really matter that his fastball is 90 mph

he has been a very successful closer in the AL east…

i think he can handle it

And the Award for Number One Idiot to Follow Pied Piper's Lead Is:

It’s not a good sign when your closer has a high number of wins. He will be our closer for the future because he is cheap closer. That’s why the dodgers did not go hard after hoffman. We are stuck with him until his a free agent plain and simple. Boils down to money. Thanks parking lot owner.

i doubt we keep broxton when hes a free agent

he will be costing over 10 mill a year and we always seem to produce some great closers from our system or from somewhere so i agree that broxton might be gone soon

I agree

Broxton and Ethier both walk as free agents.

Criticism loses it's punch

when the spelling of the two writers in question is incorrect.

You are absolutely right, this was hastily written and poorly thought out, it’s like I just showed up in the morning and threw some completely absurd poll together that I pulled out of my ass that had absolutely no basis in reality but was in complete agreement with what the drunk whining last night at the sports bar. I mean, how could someone sloppily fail a cut and paste of that guy’s name and not even bother to look up Plaschke’s spelling on his name? How could anyone be so sloppy, sensational, belligerent, and so far below TBLA standards yet expect thousands of people to read and react to what I wrote? How could I prepare something that thoughtful TBLA readers would read but be so reckless, hasty, and pointless hmmmmm.

Well, I’m going to leave that whole “getting it right” thing to Eric and just stick with flippant mockery :). It’s either that or apply for a job at the LA Times.
