It's The One Thing

If we’ve learned one thing the 2nd half of the season and even in these playoffs, it’s that we can’t expect Manny to carry us to a W.S. title. We are going to have to improve in other areas and hope that people like Billingsley regress back to their previous talent level.

by shaqfor3 on Oct 21, 2009 7:21 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

ALL the umps suck this postseason.

I mean, if they can miss two Yankees being out because they were both tagged when NEITHER was standing on the base, how can they possibly be expected to call fair balls fair, notice when someone is actually hit by a pitch, and call a strike a strike just because the catcher might be sitting in a different position?

Just horrible. And baseball can’t be happy that the excretory officiating is one of the biggest stories of the playoffs, either – but that’s just tough.

Let's not forget there were major blown calls that went against the Twins, Rockies, and the Red Sox

Though in the case of the Twins, I don’t feel sorry for them because they got all the breaks to get into the postseason. And I don’t feel sorry for the Red Sox because I don’t like them. I felt bad for the Rockies, though.

by SabreRoseTiger on Oct 21, 2009 7:25 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

It hasn’t been biased toward anyone in particular, just blatantly incompetent.

Really this is what the difference in the series was and i am very disappointed that in my first full season of watching baseball, the dodgers season had to end because of horrible ball strike calls and Horrible horrible home field advantage calls…

by matthewmafa on Oct 21, 2009 7:52 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

hard to blame the umpiring for a series loss. The calls were consistently bad on both sides. However, when the strike zone isn’t consistent, the Phillies have the power up and down the lineup to take advantage of pitches in the middle of the zone. The Dodgers power has shown up with the bases empty or not at all.

The whole preparation for a riot after the NLCS is kind of weird. As far as I remember there was no mass celebration after last year’s NLCS. The World Series win was a different matter though.

But as J-Roll says, they are a bunch of front runner fans so who knows…

My wife has been saying that since last year.

I really pissed her off when I showed her his Dodger rookie cards on ebay after that bomb earlier.

by delias man on Oct 21, 2009 8:37 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

she said the dodgers should steal victorino from the phillies...

…then i explained to her that is exactly how the phillies got him from the dodgers…

by shaqfor3 on Oct 21, 2009 8:37 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

a better question being: when was the last time the dodgers gave up 10+ runs twice in a 3 game span

by K3vo on Oct 21, 2009 8:39 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Aww, last time I'll see this black taco commercial

I don’t think I’ve seen it anywehre else but TBS.

by goodlucksaturday on Oct 21, 2009 8:38 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Sweet

Don’t watch FOX either. Except for the Colts/Niners game in a couple weeks. Guess I’ll catch it a couple more times.

by goodlucksaturday on Oct 21, 2009 8:39 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

three more outs

and Fox and TBS are not to be watched on my television for a while.

It's hard to go back and see what the cause is here

Is it Dodgers meltdown or a Phillies explosion? Or is it somewhere in between?

by aducker on Oct 21, 2009 8:39 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

dodgers meltdown

and phils explosion combined with the dodgers having to throw pitches down the middle cause nothing on the corners is a strike

by matthewmafa on Oct 21, 2009 8:40 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

The thought just occured to me...I'm gonna end up rooting for the Phillies several times next year

They’re playing every other team in the AL Central (I think) in Interleague play. We don’t face them, though, thank God.

what is the name of the announcer

Who has the annoyingest voice in the history of broadcasting…

Seriously how do they hire this man?? isnt sound of voice something they take into consideration when hiring???

Well gents (and ladies)

Here’s our last chance. Even though I lurked most of the season, it was fun to be a part of it. We had a great first half and a not-so great (sometimes even embarrassing) second half, but we made it. Here we are about to face reality. It’ll hurt for a few days but that feeling will fade and all we will be left with are the memories and hope for a better next year. Go dodgers!

by gxl on Oct 21, 2009 8:41 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I'm over the pain since the Game 4 loss

The core of this team will be back next year and hopefully Kershaw, Bilingsley will make for a pretty good set of anchors in the starting rotation

by aducker on Oct 21, 2009 8:43 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

the same person

who told the umps to call horrible calls for the dodgers, probably decides

by matthewmafa on Oct 21, 2009 8:48 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

What are the chances of us getting Halladay during the Winter?

Seriously, I feel like we don’t really need him. Buuuuut, I feel the Dodgers will do whatever it takes.

by PHAT JULIO on Oct 21, 2009 8:44 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I know everyone says you don't need him

but where else do we improve? We’re probably stuck with Manny in LF, and short of finding an upgrade at 1B, the offense is staying the same.

by oshea2002 on Oct 21, 2009 8:45 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

You don't need to improve when you win 95 games

The playoffs are a crapshoot. Seriously, you build teams to get to the playoffs

by Michael White on Oct 21, 2009 8:46 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree with that, and I don't.

I agree, baseball is different then hoops. In the NBA, if someone kicks your ass in consecutive playoff series’, you either get better or lose again. I know baseball is different. But I still think this team can get better, especially the rotation.

by oshea2002 on Oct 21, 2009 8:49 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yankees will probably get him

How do you figure?

Toronto is stupid, they don’t believe in trading within the division.
