Regular Season Finale Game Chat

Colorado Rockies at Los Angeles Dodgers, Oct 4, 2009 1:10 PM PDT

Just to clear up some confusion.  Last night it was reported by the Dodgers that Russell Martin passed Johnny Roseboro for most steals by a catcher in Dodger history, with his 60th career swipe.  In fact, Martin already held the record before last night.  Martin has 58 steals as a catcher in his career (plus one as a third baseman and one as a pinch hitter), while Roseboro had 56 of his 59 steals in a Dodger uniform as catcher from 1957-1967.

Matt Kemp's batting average will be at .2998 if he has hits in his first two at-bats.

Andre Ethier is still one home run away from tying the record of most home runs at Dodger Stadium in a season, with 23.

Vicente Padilla is 5-1 with a 3.12 ERA in eight day game starts this season.

Here are today's lineups:

Rockies      Dodgers
2B Young
LF Pierre
CF Fowler
2B Hudson
LF Smith
CF Kemp
1B Giambi
RF Ethier
C Iannetta 3B Blake
RF Hawpe 1B Mientkiewicz
3B Stewart
SS Hu
SS Quintanilla
C Ellis
P Marquis
P Padilla

Completely meaningless but the Cards are losing

Just to clarify

Today’s Dodger coaches

manager – Brad Ausmus
bench coach – Mark Loretta
pitching coach – Mike Borzello (normally bullpen catcher)
bullpen coach – Jeff Weaver
hitting coach – Jim Thome, with assistance from Juan Castro

by Eric Stephen on Oct 4, 2009 1:09 PM PDT reply actions

Juan Castro as a hitting coach is an oxymoron

You're looking at 1 AB

We’re looking at a .233/.365/.423/.789 line in the 2nd half with godawful defense.

In his defense, he’s put up a .218/.419/.455/.873 line in the past 28 days, .226/.351/.613/.964 in the past 14 with 3 dingers.

He’s hit 8 dingers in the 2nd half. 3 in the past 14 days.

That’s why we’re so down on him.
