Baseball Playoffs - Day One Chat

Rockies at Phillies starts at 11:37

Gameday Link

[Update] Cliff Lee pitches a complete game as the Phillies take the first playoff game of 2009, 5 - 1.

Twinkling Twins against Yankees at 03:07

GameDay Link

Undermanned and sleep deprived the Twins will have no time to rest after one of the greatest tie breaker games in history. The Twins are the least likely team to make the playoffs in many a year. It would be like the Padres making it as far as I'm concerned that his how little respect I have for the team but they had one hell of a kick and now they get the honor of playing the Yankee's. We shall quickly see if Mo Mo is more important then talent. All of America outside of NY will be rooting for the Twins to make a stand.

I'm rooting for the Rocks over the Phils.

I want to see the NL West do well, after hearing in the beginning of the year how it would be the weakest division in the majors.

And I want Lee to get rattled by the Rocks, just to show all those people chiding the Dodger front office for not acquiring an “ace” how wrong they were and how little it mattered.

Five innings of shutout ball

you really think having Cliff Lee against the Cardinals or Phillies would not have mattered when we are using Padilla in game three?

by meercatjohn on Oct 7, 2009 12:45 PM PDT up reply actions

Perhaps I wasn't clear.

Having Lee in the playoffs is an advantage, no doubt. But if the Dodgers lose this series against the Cards and the Phillies win, we won’t hear the end of how the Dodgers faltered because they didn’t get Lee or a true “ace” despite having made an offer for him.

Had he been rocked today, there is a probability we won’t be hearing any of that.

(Of course, if the Dodgers beat the Cards and make a deep run, none of the above will matter).

0 - 0 after four complete

Both “aces” doing a bang up job.

Dodgers finally using blue rally towels.

Wasn’t happy with the white from last year. Really upset I can’t make it today or tomorrow :/

Blue Towels will look great.

Game Five will be fun if we need it or if we get that far.

Two runs

now as Dodger Killer Carlos Ruiz proves he can do more then just hit against the Dodgers.

by meercatjohn on Oct 7, 2009 12:59 PM PDT reply actions

Hawpe makes error

and allows Ruiz to take second. 2 – 0 Phillies with Cliff Lee up and still only one out.

by meercatjohn on Oct 7, 2009 1:00 PM PDT reply actions

Ouch - bad baserunning by Ruiz

he’s nailed at 3rd, and that makes Cliff Lee run the bases a double boogy.

by meercatjohn on Oct 7, 2009 1:03 PM PDT reply actions

Jiminez now being rocked 3 - 0

with Howard on 2nd, no outs. Odds are high it will be at least 4 – 0 before long.

I have a good feeling that

Los Jankees are going to be upset today. The Twins are going to come in playing hungover, tired and loose.

by Ian Capilouto on Oct 7, 2009 2:18 PM PDT reply actions

Not today

Final Score Yankee’s 11 – 3.

by meercatjohn on Oct 7, 2009 2:41 PM PDT up reply actions

Just for the hell of it

I am going Twins 7 and the Yanks 5.

by Ian Capilouto on Oct 7, 2009 3:10 PM PDT up reply actions

That would be cool

I will be rooting for the Twinkies

by meercatjohn on Oct 7, 2009 3:14 PM PDT up reply actions

Okay - Twin / Yankee's about to start

Good opponent for CC to finally show he can pitch in the playoffs. Soften him up for when he actually faces a major league lineup in the next series.

by meercatjohn on Oct 7, 2009 3:07 PM PDT reply actions

Span leads off with a double

but O Cabrera is k’d. Will they pitch to Mauer?

by meercatjohn on Oct 7, 2009 3:15 PM PDT reply actions

How stupid is it for gameday

to show playoff stats instead of final regular season stats?

by meercatjohn on Oct 7, 2009 3:17 PM PDT reply actions

tbs has a strike zone showing the pitch location for every pitch…. the umpires probably hate that… i dont like it…

I get off in about an hour

then I can watch a little bit of this game before band practice. Somehow I have to set up a tv while we are rehearsing during the first part of the Dodgers win.
