I actually think it's been pretty decent.

Couple possibly questionable borderline calls, but you’ll always get those. There’s been nothing egregious, I think.

By the way, why didn't Hudson come in for Belliard this inning?

He just batted this past inning – time for a defensive replacement, I’d think. Is Torre really saving him to pinch hit for the pitcher in a couple innings?

by Preston on Oct 7, 2009 9:34 PM PDT reply actions

To early

thin bench since we have already used Pierre/Thome. Do you want Castro to pinch hit?

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on Oct 7, 2009 9:35 PM PDT up reply actions

You guys act like Belliard is some kind of butcher at 2nd

the numbers don’t support that conclusion. Sure he didn’t catch the fly bal in the 1st inning but he’s been solid at 2nd since he showed up.

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on Oct 7, 2009 9:38 PM PDT up reply actions

Well, the pitcher's spot just batted, so it's not coming up for awhile.

And I’d rather get the defensive advantage for longer, given a 3 run lead and a negligible offensive difference.

by Preston on Oct 7, 2009 9:39 PM PDT up reply actions

The difference isn’t large enough to burn a bench spot so early

by Eric Stephen on Oct 7, 2009 9:38 PM PDT up reply actions

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

I think there’s a decent chance we don’t get to use him as a pinch hitter anyway, so might as well get his superior defense in the game.
