2009 Baseball Playoffs Day Two - Game Chat

The Rockies try to get off the floor against last years World Series MVP Cole Hamels after getting shutdown by Cliff Lee. We at True Blue are rooting for a Rockie victory because we'd like our next opponent to go five games in this series no matter who comes out on top. Rockie / Phillie GameDay

After the Dodger game the Angels will try to beat their nemesis, the Boston Red Sox. They get the late game as Jon Lester matches up with Free Agent to be John Lackey.  Lackey has had troubles with the Red Sox his whole career as they have posted an .873 OPS against him. His 2nd worse showing against any major league team. Last year he ptiched two good games against the Red Sox in the playoffs but the Angels still lost both games.

Cook's sinker is sinking

7 groundball out so far, with four K’s to boot. That will get it done.

4-0

Hamels driven to cover after five innings. Cook continues to sail while Carlos Gonzales continues to sparkle.

There is no person I want to fail more than Cole Hamels. This game pleases me.

or maybe some Brad Penny?

Rox with the bases loaded no outs

Injury Delay???

That had to be an interesting play. Runners on 1st / 3rd line drive to pitcher, hitters makes 1st but runner on 3rd holds.

Happ knocked out of the game by Seth Smith line drive

Big trouble for the Phillies, bases loaded, no outs and Jeff Weaver is in Los Angeles

Fowler with another SF

The lefty relief pitcher from Palm Springs does the job

Eyre is from Palm Springs? Why didn’t I know this?

I'm not sure if the family grew up there

but his dad is a legend in the Field of Dreams softball tournaments.

Game Three should be interesting

It shouldn’t get above 35 degrees over the weekend and we might get snow

Another reason to root for the Phillies

I don’t want to see the Dodgers freezing their asses off in Colorado next week.

by meercatjohn on Oct 8, 2009 2:27 PM PDT up reply actions

yeah

i’m rooting for the Rockies because I want to see the Dodgers advance to the WS in person. I couldn’t imagine playing baseball in temperatures below 30 though

The baseball world shudders at the thought of the combination of Road Loney, October Loney, and Coors Field James Loney. :)

I simultaneously got visions of Voltron, Captain Planet and Power Rangers.

by K3vo on Oct 8, 2009 2:34 PM PDT up reply actions

Captain Planet was the worst cartoon ever…yet I watched it far too often.

by Eric Stephen on Oct 8, 2009 2:35 PM PDT up reply actions

it surely was. It provides ample opportunities for hilarity after the fact though :D

tulo crushed one down the line foul, next pitch nails him

by K3vo on Oct 8, 2009 2:35 PM PDT up reply actions

Was Tulo wearing a mask of Brett Myers’ wife?

I put a Fan Shot up, and on Twitter I added a #notajinx hash to offset any potential jinxing.

Marcus Giles arrested on battery charges

WTF – Didn’t his brother have the same problem? Sucks when you don’t have steroids to prop up your run of the mill skills.
