True Blue Clipper Fans

With an off day for the playoffs and the Blake Griffin era about to start at Staples tonight, I'd like to get a handle on how many True Blue posters are adventurous enough to consider themselves Clipper fans. Please post in the comments below so I can see which posters might be interested in getting together for a Clipper/True Blue Night sometime this year.

Laker fans are welcome but any snide anti - Clipper comments will just be deleted. You have your championships, enjoy them without dumping on us. I've been a Laker fan longer then most of you have been alive but over time I've become more committed to the Clipper struggle. Magic Johnson as far as I'm concerned was the greatest thing that ever happened to Los Angeles in the sports world.

Magic Johnson, as far as I’m concerned was the greatest basketball player of all time.

/fixed that for you.

Magic was soon awesome even the phrase “greatest basketball player of all time” seems to fall short of the mark. His court presence his ball handling passing defense and shooting were all top notch, he more than anyone epitomized Showtime and revived the Lakers who had been down awhile after the Wilt-West years

forgot the clipper part....

while I do not h8 them i prefer them to remain the 2nd best bball team to play at staples. and much like the angels if my favorite could not win the other LA team would be next choice

Orange County is not LA

William Doolittle at your service, a.k.a. will do.

And thank God for that!

At last, an Angels series lead the size of Kevin Youkilis' head!

I'm in.

Not a real Clippers fan, so instead I’ll annoy you with the crappy basketball knowledge I have. (I’m much more inclined to believe in the mythical crap in basketball than in baseball, and personally think anybody can score 20 per game if you give a player 40 minutes and the rock all the damn time.)

Basketball sabremetrics have come a long way

which is why Clipper fans love Eric Gordon so much.

by meercatjohn on Oct 9, 2009 5:30 PM PDT up reply actions

I still love Eric Gordon a lot

I’m hoping he has a great year this year. Very glad the Clips didn’t get in on the Allen Iverson sweepstakes that is going to seriously stub another local kid’s growth.

Though better Conley than Gordon since Conley didn’t do the right thing in going to IU.

Any game with flow is going to be hard though

Baseball is the easiest because it’s basically a set of individual battles with pauses between every action.

And teamwork is actually tangible in football/basketball/hockey/soccer. :o

by Chad Moriyama on Oct 10, 2009 6:06 AM PDT up reply actions

Agreed

But I think that there is a bit of that in baseball defensively and I think that things like sacrificies and RBIs will change depending on your team. I mean how do runs scored change if you put Ichiro on a great team, or put Jeter on a mediocre one? How many RBIs to Mauer and Pujols have on great offensive teams?

by bearface on Oct 10, 2009 6:55 AM PDT up reply actions

Which is why

Baseball has wOBA and stuff.

The defense/baserunning is about a year or so away from being quantified similarly with overhead cameras that track all players.

I’d be down for a Clips game this year. My only game last year was a Clipper contest – the Amare eye injury game

by Eric Stephen on Oct 9, 2009 7:59 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

Good Start

Blake Griffin has a decent debut but the real story was the energy of Baron Davis and the continued grown of Gordon and Jordan.

A basketball game and TBLA members?!

I’m so in!

Lakers fan for life, but basketball fan for life as well. These Clippers will make this season much more exciting. Can’t wait for the Gordon/Griffin combo.

I would be in if I lived in LA

but it is nice to see TBLA Clipper Fans :)

I'm nobody's fool, least of all yours

The Clippers have always had my support. I feel no need to treat admiration of both the Clippers and Lakers as mutually exclusive traits…

ahhaa im the exact opposite, I am a Laker-Angel fan.

Not that i wish the clippers or dodgers ill, i hope both teams do well, but at the end of the day its all about the Lakeshow and Halos.

I really hope we get the legendary freeway series everyone in this area has dreamed about. Best of luck to the Boys in Blue, and hopefully us halos will be seeing you in the WS!

In Kobe we trust!

Count me in

Lifelong Laker fan, but I could go for a Clipper game. I’ve never seen a Clips game live, so that would round out my trio of LA Clippers, LA Lakers, and the LA Stars!

Update

Bhsportsguy and I took in the Clipper preseason game last night. 1st half same old Clippers as the Warriors went for 73 points in the first half. 2nd half same players, different story, Clippers crushed them and had the lead by the end of the 3rd quarter. Win going away lead by Rashual Butler and his flurry of three pointers. Griffin looked good, most of his points coming off of hustle plays. 9 rebounds in 23 minutes.

Bigger story for Dodger fans was Matt Kemp taking in the game at courtside and doing an interview with Fox while the game was going on. I’ll have some photo’s up later but at one point during halftime two attractive girls were trying to get his attention and at first the usher was saying don’t bother him but he heard them, got out his seat sent over to them and had the usher take his picture with them. That was way cool.
