SB Nation NL Cy Young Award
Tim Lincecum of the Giants won the 2009 SB Nation National League Cy Young award, easily outdistancing a pair of Cardinals, who figure to be much closer to the real award when results are announced next week. Here are the results:
| Rk | Player | Team | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | Pts |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tim Lincecum | San Francisco Giants | 18 | 13 | - | 129 |
| 2 | Chris Carpenter | St. Louis Cardinals | 9 | 4 | 7 | 64 |
| 3 | Adam Wainwright | St. Louis Cardinals | 4 | 4 | 10 | 42 |
| 4 | Javier Vazquez | Atlanta Braves | - | 5 | 7 | 22 |
| 5 | Dan Haren | Arizona Diamondbacks | - | 3 | 4 | 13 |
| 6 | Ubaldo Jimenez | Colorado Rockies | - | 1 | 1 | 4 |
| 7 | Cliff Lee | Philadelphia Phillies | - | - | 1 | 1 |
| 8 | Jair Jurrjens | Atlanta Braves | - | - | 1 | 1 |
My ballot: Lincecum, Vazquez, Carpenter
Phil's ballot: Lincecum, Wainwright, Haren
Zack Greinke won the AL award, garnering 28 of 29 first place votes.

I agree with SBNation, you and Phil. Lincecum was the most dominating pitcher all year long.
Speaking of the Giants, they must be one of the only teams with hardly any SP questions. If they acquire a bat or three, watch out!

Bias, Come On! Very disapointed, very very disapointed
Et tu TBLA
You were only supposed to consider games where the Dodgers hit the crap out of him :)
Well let’s just hope the Cy Young does to him what it did for Barry Zito.

With all those good candidates to choose from
Giving Cliff Lee a third-place vote for 80 innings of very good, but not Cy Young level performance (125 ERA+ – Randy Wolf territory), is a joke. Shame on that voter (Sky Kalkman).
If you’re wondering who voted Cliff Lee third in NL Cy Young voting at SBN, it was me. Dude was too good not to be mentioned, > Carp/Wain

That voter is clearly smoking the same stuff Lincecum does…

Do you mean you disagree with how the Dodgers used him, and used up his rookie eligibility, in 2008?

You are thinking of Edinson Volquez. Three writers voted for him although he wasn’t actually eligible.
