Diamond Leung also calls Wang "a non-tender candidate" in his blog entry, but I would imagine that the Yankees can afford to pay him a few million dollars - he made $5M in 2009 and is arbitration-eligible for the third time - as an insurance policy, to see if he can come back, rehab in the minor and be a back of the rotation starter. Still, it would be interesting to have him paired on the Dodger pitching staff with middle school classmate Hong-Chih Kuo.
Tip to commenter underdog for posting the link to Diamond's blog in the Dodger Thoughts comments.

His odds of coming back have to be better than Shawn Estes’s, don’t they? ;)

Is it just me or do these recent photos (here and here) of Tim Lincecum remind anyone else of the father of former short-time Dodger minor league SS Rex Rundgren (Todd).?

Not just you
He’s obviously not afraid of hanging onto that stoner label, he looks like he had a toke or two just before the interview.

I just don’t want Wang running the bases.
Well, that, and I also don’t want him pitching either.

I don’t want TBLA commenters making an infinite number of Hong / Wang jokes.

The Yankees would be pretty desperate to pay him $5m don’t you think?

I don't know, I kind of like it.
I think they do need some reclamation project on the roster. It makes for a great story, and a chance to watch Eric get punked by 19 year olds as he tries to find out Wang’s MPH at IE during his rehab starts.

Thanks/You're welcome ;-)
Btw I wouldn’t be opposed to this if he were a NRI. Seems like someone worth taking a flyer on as a 5th starter. But I wouldn’t get my hopes up and I wouldn’t want to pay him millions.

Off topic but re Javy Guerra
In case this wasn’t mentioned earlier, since I know some of you were worrying about this… Another one from diamond83

I told y’all not to worry, they still had time to add more people, but did anyone listen? NoooooOoooo! ;-)

OK move, I guess. Let’s see what Guerra can do at AA for an extended period.
It’ll be interesting where they place Jansen next year. His fastball might obliterate Low A batters, so maybe a return trip to Inland Empire is in the cards.

low A??
he will be in the majors by the end of the year and start the year at AA
by matthewmafa on Nov 20, 2009 2:38 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I was talking about Jansen. He will definitely start in A ball somewhere.

you think he’ll be in the majors in 2010?
I love the idea of bullpen pitcher/3rd string catcher! Sign Gregg Zaun (who can PH) and make it happen :)
by LA Taco on Nov 20, 2009 4:23 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
gregg zaun!!!!!
hes the best we should sign him FOR SURE.. he will be a great backup catcher.. maybe even take russell job or split time… and i think that he will dominate so badly that if he can have some control and not walk the world he might get some time at the end of the year, jansen//
by matthewmafa on Nov 20, 2009 5:56 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
meh
dont really want him
yankees might end up trading him anyway
cause u got CC, burnett, pettitte and joba in the rotation
not much room for wang
didnt he have that spectacular 22.54 ERA or something this year??
haha
