Logan White probably changed his mind and had Guerra added after getting a positive report on him from George Genovese. (The flip side to Eric’s joke yesterday.)

The delay of a day

is quite curious. I wonder if along they were going to add at least one player and the debate was over who that player should be. Not that I see any other candidates. I’m glad they did so, I didn’t want to say anything the other day until the deadline had passed. Thus saving my outrage for other matters:)

He loved Lynchburg so much he caused a riot.

lolll

nobody would choose him in the rule 5 draft..

by matthewmafa on Nov 20, 2009 2:36 PM PST up reply actions

Maybe we didn’t add Van Slyke because HOFFMANN will be back in May.

by silverwidow on Nov 20, 2009 2:21 PM PST reply actions

and because nobody will take Van Slyke

But his father still loves him.

by Tripon on Nov 20, 2009 2:25 PM PST up reply actions

As I recall

his father told him he sucked when he was playing for the Loons and that if he wanted a major league career he better get going.

I always liked the Mutt Mantle story (and for more than his name!)…when Mickey was struggling in the minors he called his dad and said he felt like quitting and wanted to come home, and his dad told him he thought he raised a ballplayer and not a quitter.

2011 Rule 5

Are we going to add Tennessee’s all-time strikeout leader, James Adkins??

 I’m guessing no.

by silverwidow on Nov 20, 2009 2:32 PM PST reply actions

Really? 2011 already?

by Eric Stephen on Nov 20, 2009 2:35 PM PST up reply actions

I actually meant December 2010.

But if you’re asking why I’m talking about this, I’m not sure.

Like anyone would care if we lose George Sherrill the II.

by Tripon on Nov 20, 2009 2:38 PM PST up reply actions

I guess that would make him Cory Wade 3.0

I only need 1.

command needs to get better, needs to prove his slider can work on lefties

and that’s just to be considered for a loogy type role :o

Keith Law defends his Cy Young ballot on a St. Louis radio sports talk show. You kind of know what his answers are going to be, but it’s interesting to hear him say it. (It is a ten-minute long segment.)

What makes that interview hilarious is of the ten minutes, about six of them are spent re-asking the same question over and over and over again, and Law’s attempt to not answer it the same way he had twelve times previous.

by EMDarrow on Nov 20, 2009 5:19 PM PST up reply actions

its pretty easy to not vote for him..

just be like… He was injured the first month of the season and a cy young awardd winner should be helping his team out from day 1 to the last day of the season..

That would be a great commercial to rework with Timmy. "I don’t always toke up, but when I do, I prefer Maui Wowie."

RSM is Reynolds Sports Management, a sports agency (Larry Reynolds) who reps Torii Hunter, among others.

Javy Guerra is a client, as are Old Friends Joel Hanrahan, Reggie Abercrombie, and Wesley Wright.

I’m too lazy to check the other 29 teams, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Dodgers’ 40 man list is the smallest in baseball right now (33).

by silverwidow on Nov 22, 2009 8:56 AM PST reply actions

That sounds right. I took a quick look at the NL West, and the Dodgers are the lowest by far:

Dodgers 33
Rockies 38
Padres 39
D-Backs 40
Giants 40

by Eric Stephen on Nov 22, 2009 9:11 AM PST up reply actions

The Cardinals, who had 9 free agents (one of the highest totals; Dodgers led with 15), have just 34 players on their 40-man.
