Angels Re-Sign Bobby Abreu
According to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse, the Angles have re-signed outfielder Bobby Abreu to a two year, $19 million contract with a $9 million vesting option for 2012 (and a $1 million buyout). It seems like a fairly steep price for a 35 year old who doesn't play good defense or hit for power, but he is still great at getting on-base. I think it's a probably a pretty safe deal for both sides but if the Angels had waited to see how the free-agent market shaped up they likely could have gotten Abreu for a cheaper price.

Looks like Abreu might be this year’s Raul Ibanez, in that he was signed waaaaaaay early in the offseason before the market was set.

Ahh, were really interested in and we would really like to make it look like we are interested in signing . . . oh well someone else signed him, let’s just see who’s left in two months and take the cream of the bargain bin OR that guy was good once, he looks like a big time free agent, I’ll take him, maybe the fans won’t notice he sucks now!.
Unfortunately this year we will be going from Pick n’ Save to the .99 cent store.

He is a Mike Scioscia kind of player I think. Good OBP, smart on the basepaths, and a team guy who everyone likes.

oops, meant to say— say what you will about that, but at least there’s a plan. They still need to get to the WS though to make me a full believer, but you can’t deny that Angels fans have had a good time in Anaheim lately, although have been disappointed too many times in the playoffs.

They won a World Series within the last decade
not a whole lot of teams can say that (the Cubs can’t even say that about the last century.)
The Angels are doing what they need to do which is get to the playoffs. After that, its a crapshoot.

He’s as fragile as they come. Probably no Pau either tomorrow.

That means the MRI was negative
that would be good news.
I’m thinking a “strain” means it hurts but there’s no damage, but you know, I didn’t stay in a HOlliday inn or anything.
They should still win, no excuses.

The best thing about it is..
we play MEMPHIS tomorrow….
and memphis is where bynums go to die… it might be a blessing in disguise that bynum is injured so he doesnt have to play this memphis team that injures his knees every year

No Pau or Bynum
I fully expect Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph to combine for 70 points.
