Doomed to Repeat
This is a great article written in 2004 about McCourt. Key graf:
"They say those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
"The Los Angeles Dodgers could be in for a really tough time, because it appears that neither Frank or Jamie McCourt, MLB, or the News Corp, who have loaned much of the money used to buy their own ball club, have learned any lessons from the past.
"Recently, two top-ranking Dodger officials resigned from their posts, allegedly after reviewing the McCourt financial plan for the Dodgers, which, due to their massive debt load, leaves no room for error. In order to meet the financial needs of the club, everything must go perfectly according to plan. As we all know, in baseball, this is nearly impossible."

Hey!!
When did this site become a goddamned Horror blog?
I mean until July 31 I thought pretty highly of the Dodgers’ management and ownership. Well . . . no. I didn’t feel THIS badly about them.
Now? I’ve resigned myself to love my Dodgers and hate the management like I did when the Fox group was in charge, overpaid for a bunch of FA’s and didn’t draft or develop hardly any homegrown talent. What a lovely way to progress through a winter.
McCourt Co.
until Dodger fans vote with their (closed?) wallets, Frank will just laugh all the way to the bank ….
but ‘Frankly’ speaking, if his $20.00 parking and $10.00 beer doesn’t keep the fans away – IMO nothing will!
Count me as one who won't be buying anything next year.
Unbelievable. I mean we’re the LA Dodgers not the Padres! Or the stupid Royals!! I mean for crying OUT LOUD!!!

I believe the parking is staying at $15. The $10 beer is 24 ounces, or the equivalent of two bottles. Is $5 that significantly different from the price of a bottle of Bud + tip at a bar or restaurant?

It's a BASEBALL game. IN LA.
I expect to pay a little more, but not to get the shaft.
Besides it’d be easier to take if we were bringing back the O Dog, if we at least made a run at the Wolf, if we locked the kids up and if we tried to get Halladay.

Worst owner in baseball?
I had my suspicions based upon earlier cost-cutting moves, lack of free agent spending, lack of spending in the international and draft arenas… but I have a feeling that this is going to get even worse the more it draws out. Sure, there are other crappy owners out there in baseball, but they don’t have the loyal following and the big market revenue that the Dodgers have.
Our minor league system is dwindling at an alarming rate, we keep selling players for short-term cash relief, and our competitive base (our young stars) will soon enter that stage of their careers where they will command $$s to keep around. I don’t see an easy solution here.
F you McCourt… go make another lavish, highly-leveraged, completely unnecessary real estate purchase. In fact, please sell the team so you can drive yourself into the ground with your lack of business sense and not bring the team, the players, and the fan base down in flames with you.
Side note: why do we have this dichotomy of good/bad owners in Southern California? Jerry Buss/Donald Sterling, Arte Moreno/Frank McSleaze?
and of course
Selig let it happen when all this was out there. That guy must work for the NFL or something. I dunno. I’m at a loss about this whole thing.
I don’t think you can say McCourt is the worst owner ever. He just doesn’t have the cash. He should never have been allowed to buy the team in the first place.
that deal, the deal
why juan pierre. WHY?

This is making me
Depressed!
I am honestly considering not spending money on tickets this year if the McCourts do nothing to invest in winning this off-season.

Still
I’m still gonna watch, root, and try to get to LA for a game. Or maybe i’ll just see them play close to home when they come to SF. What a giant mess. Just don’t disband the team.
