What I do know, you better watch out when you’re playing chicken.

I have to say, with each passing day it just seems like McCourt/Colletti are just waiting for another team to come in with an offer that is more suited to what Scott Boras is looking for.
By no means do I think we should give him anything resembling a 4 year, $100M deal (especially when we’re bidding against ourselves), but if it was length he wanted, they why would Colletti comeback with a 1 year deal? It doesn’t matter how much the 1 year deal is…. its not what he’s said he’s looking for.
Obviously the market has gone down, even since the initial 2 year, $45M offer that was thrown out in November. So why not offer 3 for something like 55M? If the Dodgeres can pay Andruw Jones $18 million per year, I’m sure they could do the same for Manny.
Like I said, it seems like McCourt and Colletti are just waiting until another team comes in and offers Manny a contract. When the Dodgers lose him, they’d be able to say, “well, we tried.” Honestly, are they trying? A 1-year deal doesn’t seem like it….
Cheers,
Matt

3 and 55 millions
really???….i don’t think boras would see the offert worthy of being answered and it may make manny angry
Odd that Boras would talk about playing chicken
He seems to be the chief chicken player here, and his rep is going to take a hit if he doesn’t get Manny at least a 3 year deal for more than $20 million per. Maybe he’ll pull it off, but that doesn’t seem likely right now. I wonder of Manny is starting to have second thoughts about his alliance with Boras.
The Dodgers should be calling Boras’s bluff at this point. I understood going public with the first contract offer to show that they were sort of trying to sign Manny. But I don’t understand making the 1 year offer public or, for that matter, making any other offers public from here on out.
