NL West Favorites Collide: D-Backs at Dodgers

MLB Florida and Arizona Spring Training - SB Nation

Diamondbacks at Dodgers, 1:05pm

The top two teams in the NL West face off today at Camelback Ranch, as the Diamondbacks visit the Dodgers in Glendale.

Hiroki Kuroda, in competition with Chad Billingsley for the role of opening day starter, gets the start today.  The starters have been getting stretched out of late, but to date nobody has lasted more than three innings.  Per Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com, Kuroda will be followed by Jeff Weaver, Eric Stults, and Guillermo Mota.

Jon Weisman of Dodger Thoughts has today's Dodger lineup:

Furcal SS
Hudson 2B
Ethier RF
Blake 3B
Loney 1B
Kemp CF
Pierre LF
Ausmus C
Kuroda P

That looks awfully close to the opening day lineup, with the only notable omissions being the two all-stars, Martin and Ramirez.

Although I haven't seen a link on Dodgers.com, today's game was in the press release a few weeks ago as one of the games being streamed online.  Click here to watch.

Is Eric Stults

pitching for the left handed relief slot or the AAA rotation because he is out of the running for the major league rotation?

Ethier

showing some big time patience this spring.

I just realized

that games are now starting at 01:00 since we have caught back up to Arizona time wise.

Yeah

That threw me for a loop on Sunday, especially since I thought the game would be on KCAL. The one great thing about Vero was the 10am games. :)

Kuroda is looking good

You think he’ll get opening day nod?
BTW, I’m new so hello all

Welcome!

Big Blue, we’re glad to have you at True Blue LA.

I think it’s too early in the spring to tell about the opening day starter, but right now I think Kuroda has the edge to start opening day. Still a lot of spring games for that to change though.
