Brent Leach is the Fall Guy

Thanks to a tip from seemingly nocturnal reader BHSportsGuy, the Dodgers' 40-man roster has been updated and Brent Leach is the one name missing. There has been no official word, but I'm sure that information will be released today, perhaps during the 9:30am press conference.

Another detail that will emerge today is Manny's uniform number. He is listed on the Dodgers' webpage as #99, but I'd wait until at least the press conference to start ordering those jerseys.

That would be a surprise

Have to think some team would snap him up as he was in competition to make our bullpen. Why do they continue to bother with Repko with Paul ready to everything he can do?

Leach was the 21st rated prospect by Baseball America, and they noted he “had the stuff to reach the majors as soon as 2009” if he could improve his command. Doesn’t seem like the kind of person you release.

The White Sox, by contrast, have their 20th rated prospect, Jeff Marquez, starting today against the Dodgers.

My guess

Is Manny hasn’t yet officially been added to the 40-man yet (probably just a paperwork issue), but he will probably be activated tomorrow or very soon, with a corresponding move (hopefully not Leach).
