Kuroda Could Be Out Awhile; Other Injury Notes
Hiroki Kuroda is still feeling discomfort in his left side after suffering an oblique strain. These types of injuries can be recurring so Kuroda will take it slow and try to be 100 percent before coming back, which is good. But the longer Kuroda is out, the more likely it is he will need a minor league rehab assignment. Accoriding to Torre, his return is "More likely weeks away than days away". That means we'll be seeing at least a few more Eric Stults starts.
Jason Schmidt threw a five inning, 73 pitch game in extended spring training. He is expected to pitch at least one more game in extended spring training before starting a minor league rehab assignment.
Infielder Tony Abreu (Remember him?) is walking without crutches for the first time siince suffering an ankle sprain two weeks ago. He will probably still be out at least another month.
