Freeway "Series" Starts, Ends Tonight
Angels (25-7-1) @ Dodgers (15-19), 7:10pm
Both club's scheduled second starters are set to start tonight, the first game at Dodger Stadium since the Phillies captured the National League pennant last fall. Randy Wolf will start for the Dodgers, while Dustin Moseley toes the rubber for the Angels. MLB.com's Lyle Spencer tells us Moseley will be followed by Darren Oliver, Rich Thompson, and Jose Arredondo.
Some notes:
- Manny Ramirez is expected to play each of the next three games, and get three at bats each game, writes Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times.
- Hernandez also writes that Juan Pierre is handling his reduced role this year a bit better than last year.
- Russell Martin, returning from four days off with the flu, will return to the lineup tonight as the Dodgers field their regular lineup, per Ken Gurnick of MLB.com
- If you like keeping score, the Wirkmaa Baseball Scorebook seems like it's perfect for keeping track of a lot of details. This scorebook came recommended by Christina Kahrl of Baseball Prospectus.
- The Angels lead the all-time Freeway Series, with a 54-43-2 record dating back to 1962, the first year of Dodger Stadium
- Don't forget to tell us your Fave 5 Dodgers.

Holy lord
The Yankees’ average ticket price in 2009 is $72.67, per Ramona Shelburne.
The closest team to the Yankees is average ticket price is of course the Red Sox, at $50.24.

re:
Lots of unhappy loyal Yankee fans. Reminds me when the Lakers moved from the Forum to Staples. Most of us got screwed at twice the price of the Forum tickets.

Still bummed
I never got to watch Magic play. I think I went to 2 or 3 total games at the Forum, the first in 1995. I should have somehow found a way to get to a game during the 1996 comeback.

The real question is
Do we get a JOSH LINDBLOM sighting tonight?

At least once in the 3 games at DS
I think they want to expose him to the Dodger Stadium crowd, much like they did with Kershaw last year on the final Sunday of spring training.

Living in San Diego
for years, I really never watched the Dodgers on KCAL. I forgot just how little Eric Karros blinks. It may be a disorder.
Also, Karros wants Castro on the roster, citing the DeWitt development line. No mention of Hu from him, but take it with a Karros grain of salt.

Hungry Like The Wolf
I dominate that song on Rock Band 2. :)
(It’s currently playing at the stadium, for our esteemed starting pitcher).

So very nice to see Dodger Stadium again!
What a beautiful, yet empty (!!) place.

Figgins, before that K
was scorching this spring: .419/.478/.597, and 9/12 on steals.

One thing I forgot to mention in my Camelback Ranch recap...
was just how vocal Orlando Hudson is. It’s a sight to behold, especially in practice. He is talking and yelling, seemingly every second. If you aren’t aware of the base out situation, it’s on you since Hudson is constantly shouting it out.
“C’mon, Douggie, get that foot on the bag.”
“Help me out, Loney, scoop that.”
His personality is electric.
Oh yeah, nice start of the DP in the 1st inning too.

Heck of a quick turn by Aybar
lightning-fast hands on the Ethier DP.
We get our first “Up Jumps The Devil” from Vin.

I didn't see many of the Showtime Lakers games in person
My guess is that I saw less than 5.

Belisario
Pretty impressive arm. Hopefully he sticks in our system for a while.

Hudson's bat
I don’t think he’s healthy enough to bat 2nd. That guy has seemingly lost ALL of his power.

Just wondering
But is your assessment from spring training or his numbers from last year?

Wrist injuries tend to sap power
I don’t know how long it’ll take before he’s hitting consistent line drives from the left side. Until then, he should bat 8th.

Yep
I haven’t actually seen the Dodgers on TV at all this spring, so I was wondering if your thoughts were based on observation or based on the injury. Does it seem like he isn’t right when hitting? Keep in mind spring numbers often don’t mean much once the regular season starts.

Re:
The few games I have seen of the dodgers during ST, Hudson seems affected by injury while batting. He is either hitting slow rollers through the infield or flyballs that the outfield barely has to move to get. I agree batting 8th for awhile, until he gets the feel back, would not be a bad idea. We know that Ethier can flourish in front of Manny or even put J. Martin there to gain some of his confidence back early this year. J. Martin could start off hot, when Hudson is back to his form, move J. Martin back down further and then the whole lineup is dangerous.
What about having Hudson bat 9th when the better hitting pitchers are pitching (Wolf or Kershaw, correct me if I’m wrong) then have Ethier or J Martin bat 2nd?
I know its just spring training, but I think Hudson still needs some time to get his feel back. If the problem continues when season starts, I have faith in our skipper to shake things up and make the right decisions.
