Haha
I thought for sure you were going for this reference.
Which I should save for the series against the Rangers later this season.

Blazers Edge is on their 4th game thread
for the playoff game tonight
by Michael White on Apr 24, 2009 8:24 PM PDT up reply actions
Too bad Stults didn't get another PA
The only LA Dodger pitchers to get 3 walks in a game at the plate are Don Sutton (1976) and Stan Williams (1961).
I thought I lagged on this one :)
Besides, I learned from the master. I can’t tell you how many times Mr. Bob Timmermann beat me to the punch on some obscure reference.

Oh yeah
I forgot about that guy. He was pretty crazy. (In a good way)
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 8:39 PM PDT up reply actions
Belisario looks great so far tonight.
Please don’t be a jinx.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 8:24 PM PDT reply actions
To be fair, i think Belisario had some help from ianetta and Baker in the ‘looking great’ department.
by YeagerMeister on Apr 24, 2009 8:27 PM PDT up reply actions
I think we should be allowed to call him Pumpkinhead
since it was affectionate, and since the informal ban he hasn’t been as good.
If it makes him pitch better
Let’s put “Pumpkinhead” on the Banner.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 8:29 PM PDT up reply actions
I like the pick though.
There should be a Draft Thread tommorow, even though I can’t be there.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 8:32 PM PDT up reply actions
I could put it up
I just couldn’t participate.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 8:34 PM PDT up reply actions
If you want to write it
go for it.
Just be sure to mention how the foundation for Raider greatness will be fortified tomorrow. :)
by Eric Stephen on Apr 24, 2009 8:34 PM PDT up reply actions
Yes
I stole that from a Bill Simmons column this week

It's not just you.
Lots of baserunners.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 8:34 PM PDT up reply actions
now that you said that
He’s going to ground out on the first pitch
(either way we are covered in jinxs)
Sorry Loney
if you dance around that much, they’re pretty much gonna call it a swing.
It would have been great if they had Broxton go back to the bullpen in the top of the 9th
so he could have re-entered the game as the closer :)
by Eric Stephen on Apr 24, 2009 8:44 PM PDT up reply actions
I dont like watching Belli trying to pick off first
after watching him try to IBB a couple games ago…. Just concentrate on strikes
Thatta' boy.
Throw that unhittable fastball.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 8:45 PM PDT reply actions
I figured this game would be over. Looks like I’ll be able to catch the last couple innings.
Dodger Fever: Catch it every summer; head to the ER every October.
As close as this game is-
- I still appreciate the fact that I can watch it in Tucson.
Awesome
The simple pleasures get us through!

Do we have another catcher on the roster?
by Michael White on Apr 24, 2009 8:50 PM PDT up reply actions
Nope....
I just like Martin in there better.
Right...
But isn’t the logic that you don’t want to leave yourself with only one catcher, because if the catcher goes down you have nobody to replace him.
by Michael White on Apr 24, 2009 8:51 PM PDT up reply actions
That's the convention
but Torre’s pretty good late in the game about saying “screw tomorrow, it’s today time.”
by Eric Stephen on Apr 24, 2009 8:52 PM PDT up reply actions
Dewitt's a gamer
I’m sure he can put on the gear if necessary.

Here we go Kemp
No one’s looking – now’s the time for a hit!
The first pitch was a ball
But he swung at it.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 8:53 PM PDT up reply actions
Ausmus!
I, uh… knew he could! Yes, I did!
Arghhhh
Why couldn’t that go out?!?!?!?!?!?!
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 8:56 PM PDT reply actions
because the baseball gods knew Mark Loretta was the hitter of DESTINY!!

Dodger PH
hitting .400/.455/.450 this season so far.
22 PA, so of course small sample size

You had The Right Stuff
oh wait, wrong Yeager
by Eric Stephen on Apr 24, 2009 9:03 PM PDT up reply actions
Yep
As long as we don’t score a bunch more. Although we’ll probably see Kuo either way, just to get some work in.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 9:02 PM PDT up reply actions
Cool.
I’d like to see Greinke finally blossom. It’s time.

Love both
the acoustic song is out of this world great, but it’s hard to deny the rock and roll badassity of the song. :)
by Eric Stephen on Apr 24, 2009 9:02 PM PDT up reply actions
Yep
We had high 500s a few times. We’ll get to 700-800 tonight.
by Eric Stephen on Apr 24, 2009 9:05 PM PDT up reply actions
Oh well
who needs 3, when you can get 4?
by Eric Stephen on Apr 24, 2009 9:07 PM PDT up reply actions
By the way
everything in this inning started with 2 outs!!!
When we went the whole night letting 0-out situations pass us by.
Baseball is a crazy game, and I love it!
Lots more walks today
To add to our league-leading total. :-)

In Jon Weisman's "100 Things" book
I was reading the chapter today on the two 22-inning games of 1989, and I remember watching them both on TV (I was in 7th grade). I thought tonight would be a perfect time to recreate that.
But of course now I don’t want that. :)
Right at him
We’ve been really unlucky tonight at the plate too.

Ethier
was the 6th Dodger batter to face Embree this season (3 games), and only the 2nd one he got out.
Not much else he could do there
He did his job, hit the ball hard into the outfield.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 9:15 PM PDT up reply actions
Phew
The Rockies feed went out for a minute. I thought I was going to have to resort to gameday.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 9:16 PM PDT reply actions
For Manny? :)
I thought Kemp caught it at first, but it was Manny who in fact caught it.
by Eric Stephen on Apr 24, 2009 9:17 PM PDT up reply actions
The single acutally happened before I hit post
but as I was about to defend myself, Clint GD Barmes got into one.

almost like he had a bat in his hand.

Toronto 14, W-Sox 0.
Are the Jays the Rays of ’09?
Wow
I guess Broxton needs to learn to throw left-handed too so he can pitch every day.

Almost 800 Comments...
How many comments will we have if we go 22 innings?
Kuo still has good stuff
The HR to Barmes was high and inside, the location that Dustin Pedroia famously can’t hit. It was a good pitch, but Barmes just got him.
Now I really wish Ethier's smash had fallen.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 9:22 PM PDT reply actions
Testing the jinx
Hey, you know who has never been injured in such a way that they would never be on TV again? Heidi and Spencer!
But that pitch was pretty straight and not that inside
In a strange way, it seems Kuo is holding back.
Hell no
I get way less frustrated with football and basketball.

What the hell is going on here???
Overflow thread, what is that? I thought it was a SBnation myth?
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
We're on fire tonight
lines of customers waiting outside to get a table.
by Eric Stephen on Apr 24, 2009 9:29 PM PDT up reply actions
Why don't you ban talking about anything going on the game
Then you can’t jinx anything.
Now about that Simpsons episode where Scratchy…
Should I just jump my DVR to live or is the game worth watching?
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Unfair
When you hit the ball hard you should be rewarded. That’s two shots right at outfielders in the last two innings.
by Brendan Scolari on Apr 24, 2009 9:33 PM PDT reply actions
In a weird way
since the throw was bad and up the 1st base line, that’s the only way he was out. I’m fine with him running to 2nd there.

Big NFL rumor tonight
Rams bought Mark Sanchez a plane ticket. Can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow.
Okay, I’m caught up with comments, have we won yet or are we headed for extra innings.
And MR. El Lay Dave thank you for the Coor Light girls.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
No
the thread is loading slower, but I don’t want to start a new one for fear of jinx.
by Eric Stephen on Apr 24, 2009 9:56 PM PDT up reply actions
I hope he didn’t leave his future out on the mound.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
So how did Kuo look other then the home run?
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Velocity was good
the HR to Barmes was a decent pitch…up and in in the strike zone. The HR shook him up a bit, but he’s not far from being “back.”
by Eric Stephen on Apr 24, 2009 10:01 PM PDT up reply actions
I don't think so
but I was happy with my choice (Manny).

Time Travel
Can we go back and time and get 2008 Kuo?
What do we call treating everyone equally when they are clearly not equal? Communism!
Alas
first year since 2000 I don’t have the MLB package, since I’m now in the Dodger TV market.
