The Best Part of Waking Up is a Slider in Your Cup
Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times brings us the only bad thing to come out of Monday's season opener in San Diego:
Warming up for the ninth inning in his first opening day as the Dodgers' closer, Jonathan Broxton drilled Martin in his protective cup.
"I spiked a slider," Broxton said.
Martin couldn't -- or wouldn't -- dismiss the episode with a shrug of a shoulder the way Broxton did.
"At that moment in time," Martin said, "I wanted to retire."
All I can say about that is "OWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!" I guess Martin's future children can owe their existence to the fact that Broxton didn't throw a fastball.

Me neither
Even with a cup on, that would really hurt though.
The 9th inning was the only inning I saw today. Broxton looked really good and he was only throwing fastballs. Last year at this time he wasn’t throwing nearly as hard if I recall correctly. I remember him hitting 93-95 mostly.
