Brandon Webb will miss his scheduled start against the Dodgers
Of course we aren't rooting for anyone to be hurt, but this certainly helps our chances of taking the series against the Diamondbacks this weekend. The revised matchups for this weekend are McDonald/Garland, Kuroda/Scherzer, and Wolf/Petit. I like our chances in all of those games.
Webb has had continued shoulder stiffness since his start on Opening Day. This could potentially be huge news if the injury effects Webb for an extended period of time.

Agreed completely.
This was one problem with the Diamondbacks though. So much of their team’s pitching is just Webb and Haren, who were both healthy all of last year. You can’t expect that every year.

FYI from Rotowire
Concerns from multiple insurance companies last season prompted the D-Backs to remove their three-year, $54 million contract extension offer to Webb (shoulder) from the table, FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports. Webb has spent one stint on the 15-day DL in his career (2003, elbow tendinitis), but he’s logged the most innings in the big leagues over the last four seasons. Durability hasn’t been a concern for him and one of Rosenthal’s sources even predicted that Webb could pitch 10 more years without serious incident. As it stands now, we’ll have to await the results of any potential medical tests to determine the true extent of his problem, while the D-Backs haven’t made any decisions about his status beyond their decision to scratch him from his scheduled start on Saturday.

In this economy
everyone seems risk averse.

Yes
I remember that’s why they withdrew the extension they offered. There’s a lot of variability and uncertainty in pitching injuries so I wouldn’t believe any pitcher can be safe from injury for 10 years.

It doesn't matter if we don't face B Webb
we just faced the dumb Padres and in game 2 Casey Stupid Blake couldn’t make a play at 3rd to prevent a double (Beltre woulda had that) and in game 4 Cory Wade imploded in the 8th and then Russell Marten GROUNDED INTO A GAME ENDING DOUBLE PLAY. With such awesome and timely defense and hitting as that it doesn’t matter who pitches for Arizona.

That was just one series.
It doesn’t really matter much in the long run.
