Mutualism? Andre / Manny Relationship?
To soon to note a trend but not to soon to start to talk about it. Common knowledge that Andre Ethier went on a tear last year after the Dodgers acquired Manny, while Manny went on to heights he himself had never climbed. Andre and Manny both started the season right where they left off but once Manny left the team, he has fallen on hard times. Is this an example of a Mutualism relationship? Or SSS.
Home cooking should fix whatever ails Andre but he needs to turn those groundballs into launching rockets. Very successful road trip despite the Dodger clean up hitters doing very little cleanup. If it continues expect Casey Blake to make an appearance soon.

Without Manny
The offense seems like the 2006 club to me. Not a ton of homers (although in bunches when we need them!) but just OBP-ing the opposition to death.
I think (hope) Ethier will be fine and Joe trusts him enough to keep him cleanup for a while though too.
Andre is about to face a plethora of mediocre pitching, he better start feasting on it.
Should we start a Martin Home Run Contest for the home stand?
Sounds good to me
Maybe a Martin vs. Pierre contest? :)
If Juan Castro can hit one, anyone can.

For now its SSS
I think looking at how Ethier has done since the Manny supsension is difficult. Production has fallen off a cliff, but its only been 9 games. Players go on these kind of slumps all the time. However, you could look at how Ethier has done with Manny both this year and last year. That would give you a bit more of a sample size. I haven’t had a chance to look it up yet, but if memory serves, Ethier was in a horrible slump last year before Manny showed up.
He was quite pedestrian until Manny showed up. His OPS on July 31st was .779 and ended at .885.
Manny’s was a robust .926 but ended 1.031. They were the best twosome in baseball from Aug 1st on.

when Andre goes cold he really goes cold.
man caught looking 2 times again tonight and once with the bases full and one out….The Dodgers may be ok without Manny but it looks like Ethier may not be. I had high hopes for him this year, well we still do have a long way to go, maybe he will turn it around, just hope he does it before Manny gets back.
