The True Blue LA Roadtrip - Update

245_0_1202136044_medium
via rugbynetwork.net

We are planning to have a True Blue LA get together on Friday, July 3 at Petco Park in San Diego.  That just so happens to be the first day Manny Ramirez is eligible to return from his 50-game suspension.

I have to purchase tickets in advance, so I want to see how many people are interested (perhaps we can qualify for a group discount).

The seats will probably be in the upper infield reserved section, which is $22.50 per ticket if there is no group discount.

If you are interested in attending this game, please indicate in the comments below.

UPDATE 6/15/09:

I'm buying tickets this week, so please indicate your interest in the comments below, or by emailing me at ericdstephen@gmail.com.

Why in San Diego rather than a game at Dodger Stadium?

Just because it’s the “Return of the Manny” game, I guess? (Yeah, yeah “just so happens to be…”)

Too far from Santa Barbara (where I live). Another time.

We found that we have a rather large group of San Diego posters.

Dodger Stadium is in the plans too

this just happens to be the first game of our “get together” series. I am working on a San Bernardino meet-up for a 66ers game too.

I saw the game at Camelback Ranch when Manny returned to the Dodgers after the previous hiatus.

He struck out, and got out every at-bat. But the next game he got a home run. (And the last one he’d get for several weeks, well into the regular season.) His first game back could be something like that again. You might want to aim for the first or second home game…

Eric

aren’t the chances nil that Manny would be activated on the major league roster on his first game back? I’ve seen a profile that says he may not face major league pitching until after the all-star game.

Manny should be playing minor league games

starting June 23. I don’t see why he won’t be able to come back in SD.

He can play minor league games while suspended?

Yes

10 days before he’s eligible to return

Thanks – I got bad information

By the way

Edwin Jackson has turned into one HELL of a pitcher.

by silverwidow on May 31, 2009 12:08 PM PDT reply actions

Oh well

He wouldn’t have stuck on the Dodgers roster most likely anyways.

Stults to DL; Travis Schlichting called-up

Wow. Just as I requested yesterday, “It’s time to call-up some of our promising AA relievers (Garate, Schlichting).”

It’s starting to happen! Great job, Ned.

Ellis will go down

Schlichting will be a new bullpen toy for Torre.

I saw 17 comments in this thread

and thought a bunch of people were interested in going to SD. Oh well.

Count me in

A return for both of us to SD, huh Eric?
