Backstop denizens having a tough time
Dodger fans are all to aware of the power shortage from Russell Martin but this plague is happening all across the United States from California to Florida. The link below displays every catcher with an OPS+ < 100 who has had at least 50 at bats. This list includes four catchers who played in the all-star game just last year. The fifth all - star Joe Mauer couldn't even make the list based on at bats because he just started playing again this weekend. If you think Martin has been sucky you should take a look at the numbers for the guy who he shoved to the Rays.

David Ross
currently has an OPS+ of 138, albeit in a limited role. In 46 plate apperances (which would have made him 4 plate appearance short of the criteria above) Ross has 3 doubles 2 home runs and 8 walks.
OPS+???
Why not just use OPS? Or better yet wOBA?
Anyway, I agree that Martin is nothing to worry about. Of course, I doubt very much that the Rays are worried about Navarro either (nor should they be). Not that I think you were suggesting otherwise.
Navarro has one walk in 81 plate appearances so while they may not be worried about his hitting, the complete loss of plate discipline is strange. Does plate discipline slump? I always thought it was a constant when players went though tough times.
Sure it can slump.
If you start moving your head too much or trying too hard to hit a homerun you often swing at more bad pitches. Also, when you’re having problem with your swing you might miss (or take) pitches you normally would crush, leading to bad counts.

Doesn’t have wOBA, I think.
