Just A Bit Outside - May 7
Welcome to our May contest: "Just A Bit Outside."
The contest is simple: Before each game you have to guess two things:
1) Number of called balls thrown by the opposing team
2) Number of walks issued to the Dodgers (yes, intentional walks count)
No multiple guesses on the number of balls; it is OK, however, to have multiple guesses on the number of walks. Only guesses in that day's contest thread, posted before game time, will count.
The person who wins the most games in May will win a copy of Bluetopia on DVD!
**********
| Date | Winner | Guessed Balls/BB | Actual Balls/BB |
| May 1 | bucknellbruin | 51/4 | 53/4 |
| May 2 | Brendan Scolari | 61/5 | 60/4 |
| May 3 | no winner |
--- | 49/3 |
| May 4 | no winner |
--- | 81/7 |
| May 5 | no winner |
--- | 43/2 |
| May 6 | Brendan Scolari |
62/5 | 63/8 |
Last night was a close call. Brendan chose 62 balls and 5 walks, and RutgersDodgerFan chose 66 balls and 6 walks. Brendan was closer in balls, but RutgersDF was closer in walks.
I never really defined this before, but getting the balls correct is the primary choice just because it has a wider range of possibilities. If someone gets an exact amount of walks, however, that could garner extra weight provided the balls are reasonably close.

I'm giving you the win
closest game of the year. Final total was 57 balls and 4 walks. Xeifrank got 58 balls and 4 walks. He got the walks correct, but the balls were off. You won because you got the balls right.

What do we call treating everyone equally when they are clearly not equal? Communism!
