To make room for Kuroda on the 25-man roster, the Dodgers optioned A.J. Ellis to Triple-A Albuquerque.

It's official: Hiroki Kuroda has been activated and A.J. Ellis has been sent down to AAA.

Let’s hope the D-Backs are hacking…some quick ABs early…I think Kuroda will pitch 6.

I like the outside the box thinking!

of course, that would mean Weaver starts Thursday (since Milton probably wouldn’t pitch on 3 days rest) and Kershaw maybe Friday. :)

by Eric Stephen on Jun 1, 2009 3:09 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

If Kershaw only goes 1-2 innings

He could still start on Thursday right? It would just be like a bullpen session.

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 1, 2009 3:13 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

That sounds like the plan. Maybe only one inning makes a Thursday start more likely.

by Eric Stephen on Jun 1, 2009 3:15 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ok

That’s what I’ll be hoping for then.

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 1, 2009 3:24 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not optimistic tonight. Four innings max.

No worries

it’s a classic reverse jinx attempt :)

True

They always seem to work.

I just realized

Wolf will likely start Sunday, meaning he will have started both of my games in the box so far.

Eric is going to come back and write

I'll update the payroll worksheet later

but A.J. Ellis earned roughly $6,557 for his three days on the bench at Wrigley Field ($400k x 3 days / 183-day season).

Must suck

to get sent down after only three days when the $$$$ difference is so huge. He’s not a young punk anymore.

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on Jun 1, 2009 4:06 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah that would suck

Maybe he’ll get another “chance” though.

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 1, 2009 4:08 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I forgot about per diem

I don’t count that on the payroll worksheet of course, but Ellis got at least $85 per day for 3 days on the road with the club. That’s gotta be great too.

I do feel bad

he didn’t get an AB though at least he’s had ML ABs already. Coulda played him Sunday for an inning or PH, though on the other hand, they really wanted to take no chances on the game yesterday.

by underdog on Jun 1, 2009 5:13 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Estes will laugh at his stories. Luna will hunger for them. People talk about pressure, how about the pressure of being 25-27 and knowing you got maybe one more chance to make it before they write you off as a AAAA player and never getting even a shot at the ML minimum.

Speaking of Luna

2 more homeruns yesterday, 11 on the season. He’s in Beast Mode…

I would switch thatlineup around quite a bit.

Pierre
Martin
Hudson
Kemp
Ethier
Loretta
Loney
Castro
Kuroda

Would be good for starters.

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 1, 2009 4:21 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

But then

Kemp would strike out with runners on base, and Loney would hit a bases empty single.

Or Kemp would homer with men on

And Loney could single Ethier and Loretta in after they walk.

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 1, 2009 4:42 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not exactly what either team envisioned on opening day.

What's up with Furcal?

Maybe it’s time to DL him.

by silverwidow on Jun 1, 2009 4:42 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

He said he feels fine

but hard not be suspicious. I know they want to sit him down once a week but it’s been more than that as of late. Maybe they like to sit him after a long distance travel night.

Unless Blake is going to be out more than a few days

I don’t see the need to call up Blake DeWiit.
