Chone Figgins and Juan Pierre remain fast friends - Los Angeles Times
I'm always a sucker for these types of stories, as Figgins and Pierre came up together in the Rockies' system 11 years ago. I like this passage from Bill Skaikin:
But it's no fun hitting on an empty stomach, and there's no money at the lowest rungs of the minor leagues. And after every game, as players showered and dressed, concession workers would drop off a few unsold hot dogs for the coaching staff.

The price for Figgins is going up | OC Register
Mark Saxon takes a look at pending free agent and Angel table setter Chone Figgins:
His game is no longer built solely around his feet. He has become a more patient hitter, pushing is OBP - many general manager’s favorite three letters - steadily higher. He is among the league’s most dependable line-drive hitters. But what could really make him a hot commodity this winter is his ability to wear so many gloves.

Thanks
for the hat tip - underdog on DT and dashiell here ;)
but also thanks for posting the full list of signees, I figured that was out there somewhere, realizing Wilborn couldn’t be the only one to sign, since they always announce them in bunches, but couldn’t find it.
now if only you-know-who would sign… that’ll be the trickiest.
stupid dashes
i hate that putting in a dash makes it cross stuff out. oh well, you can see what i wrote.

Shawn Estes, a former 19-game winner with the Giants, has apparently retired after 13 major league seasons. Estes, 36, went 3-4 with a 3.07 ERA pitching for Triple-A Albuquerque in his attempt to continue his career with the Dodgers.

…Mike Napoli, who appears to be recovering from a prolonged slump.
May another starting catcher recover from a prolonged slump this weekend in Los Angeles Anaheim.
Agreed
although we might need to consult the descendants of Noah Webster to discover a word besides “slump” to describe Mr. Martin’s current situation. :)

Martin’s OPS+ over the last calendar year is 77, which is exactly the same as Steve Lyon’s career OPS+, so Russell is in a prolonged psycho.
Mike Napoli can hit a homerun any time he wants to.
He prefers to wait for the absolute most dramatic moments to do so.
It is Kendry Morales the Dodgers should fear the most.
I am the Iron Man
James McDonald
Did anyone else see he was called up and Schlichting sent down. Apparently Weaver will start tomorrow with McDonald being the long man.
