Special Mention -Jason Schmidt who pitched five innings as he continues to rehab. He didn't do anything special other then pitch five innings which is amazing in of itself. Eric Milton also threw a rehab game but had better results with 5 1/3 of shutout work.
Scott Elbert has been promoted to AAA, marking the first time that Elbert has reached that level. I assume he replaces the retired Shawn Estes in the Isotope rotation. He certainly deserved the promotion with a string of solid starts for the Lookouts.
1. Dee Gordon - SS -Great Lakes (A)
Is anyone hotter then our Dee Gordon? He collected two more hits on Sunday which gave him eight of nine games that he's collected multiple hits. In his last 10 games he's hitting .465 with 20 hits in has last 43 at bats. Included in that span are 5 extra base hits and eight league leading stolen bases. Plus he walked five times and only struck out four times. So after hitting a little wall in May, Dee Gordon is making those Jimmy Rollins comparisons look smarter and smarter. Oh, and he was also the Player of the Week for the MWL
Midwest League
Dee Gordon, Great Lakes
.500 (13-26), 10 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR,1 RBI, 3 BB, 4 SO, 7 SB, .577 SLG
Dee Gordon has got both an 11-game hitting streak and a seven-game multi-hit streak. The Dodgers prospect finished a terrific week at the plate by scoring a pair of runs in each of the last four games. Gordon has raised his average to a team-best .308. He also leads the Loons in hits (86), on-base percentage (.372), stolen bases (40) and triples (8).
If that wasn't enough plaudits, Baseball America had Gordan ranked 4th on the June 19th, hot sheet . James McDonald joined him as number nine.
2. Steve Johnson - RHP - Inland Empire (A+)
Steve Johnson relieved a rehab start by Eric Milton, and the two combined on a seven hit shutout. Johnson pitched the last 3 2/3 of the shutout and garnered six strikeouts in that short span.
3. Justin Sellers - SS - Chattanooga Lookouts (AA)
Sellers collected four hits and is hitting .381 in his last ten games.
