It's highlighted green
Does it flash or something if another rec. count threshold is reached? That would be cool.
All I know of is the green status once 3 recs are added.

It should escalate up to Dodger Blue

Thought it was two recs?
Of course, if you are live updating, you don’t see the green until you actually refresh.
That’s why I’m always chiming in with my “make it green!” comment in lieu of saying “+1” or “recommended”

Kershaw v. Koufax
it’s a pretty spooky comparison at this age.
Ohman setback
From the Daily News blog, with a DT comment by Jon Weisman:
Torre also said reliever Will Ohman was sent back to Los Angeles from a rehab assignment in Albuqurque after experiencing discomfort in his left elbow. Ohman was expected to pitch Tuesday and Wednesday in Triple-A before re-joining the Dodgers over the weekend off the disabled list. Obviously that is up in the air at this point.
Will Ohman hurt himself and he went back to LA for an MRI. His left elbow" Torre said. “He was warming up and had to stop. Even if he hadn’t hurt himself, we were going to have to find a way to keep him and Leach. That’s a good story there. He’s really earned his stripes.”
Nice tip of the cap to Leach there.
Nice, Leach has done the job
If you keep Leach and if Ohman had been ready then would James go back?
McD is tied to Milton I think. Maybe Ellis goes back?

Probably
McDonald was up, I think, just in case Weaver or Kershaw left really early. I assuming they didn’t see Schlichting as more than a one to two inning guy.
Thanks, gentlemen...
I was just thinking about that ridiculous show and it seemed to make perfect sense in this situation. :)
Pat Burrell with just his 2nd home run of the season. I remember thinking they got a steal at his price but times have changed. Instead Ben Zobrist saved their season, that would be like Tony Abreu leading the league in VORP in 2011 after coming making it back in 2010 and having a soild 2nd half.
I mean really, where did Zobrists power come from? At the age of 26 he had never had a slug% higher then .500 in any professional format. His season has been mind boggling for a career utility man.

it really is amazing. Pulling a Mark DeRosa it seems

Torre’s thinking seems to be
Unless I’m playing a clearly lower-tier batter (Ausmus, Jones), and since I’m already committing to batting Kemp no higher than 6th, there isn’t much difference between the 6 through 9 holes, so I’ll bat Matt 9th and wrap the speed around.
by El Lay Dave on Jun 24, 2009 4:34 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions 0 recs
Until Joe Torre believes he can bat Kemp higher than 6th without putting undue pressure on him, we are not going to see lineups that have Kemp high in the batting order.
Posted by: El Lay Dave | June 24, 2009 at 04:47 PM
I’m not saying I agree with Torre, just what I imagine his reasoning is. Kemp is the youngest of the core players and Torre probably thinks he doesn’t want to burden him with even more responsibilty, with CF already being a big one.

It does bug me that Kemp bats 9th
but not to a great extent. I’m always just happy to see him in the lineup.
They only thing I hate is that it leads to idiotic statements from the likes of A. Martinez on ESPN 710 yesterday. John Ireland mentioned Kemp as a possible All-Star, and Martinez (bitter ex-trivia host and Dodger hater) quickly shot back “he’s not a key part of the lineup!”
Then again, no matter where Kemp bats, A.Martinez would say something stupid, so perhaps I’m getting worked up over nothing :)
At least Steve Stone adds the credibility to their broadcasts.
by Eric Stephen on Jun 24, 2009 5:21 PM PDT up reply actions
Things are whack
when you pick a John Ireland quote to make a point. Can you imagine if Ken/Josh were replaced by John/A Martinez? Does he hold a grudge because they took away his gimme job of doing the trivia at games? I think Ireland bugs me as much as A Martinez bugs you.
Steve Mason is the best part of that show
and he & Ireland have a good rapport. But I agree with you, that Ireland is a tool. He seems truly shocked by really obvious things in sports.
And yes I think A.Martinez holds a grudge for losing his trivia job. He seems to always get kidded about it, and also berated for being such a Dodger hater.

Hopefully that was just bad first inning Wolf syndrome and he settles down now.
Ethier get the Dodgers even this inning.

Hawk Harrelson is the worst
Stretch! Stretch! Put it on the board! Yes!
What a lame-ass.
Dodger pitching
Unless something fairly dramatic happens with the Dodger pitching staff, this team won’t go deep into the playoffs. It’s one thing to outlast the White Sox and their stiff in June, but it’s quite another to match up against the Phils or Cubs. I don’t know what adding a starter or two would mean for Wolf, who has had some good outings, but clearly this pitching staff needs a boost.
So do we move one of the four outfielders for another starter? Trade Russell Martin while he still might get us something? Whatever the solution, it’s my strong belief that the Dodgers had better not stand pat.
Rosenthal posted today they're inquiring on Lee
I don’t really see how we’d be able to get him though sans moving Kershaw, which won’t happen
The Dodgers split in Chicago against the Cubs and allowed more than two runs in a game only once.
The Dodgers are 4-3 against the Phillies this year and allowed more than three runs only twice.
A top-notch starter acquired for a reasonable set of prospects is always a welcome addition, however.
And if you trade Martin, who is your starting catcher? Ausmus is too old, Ellis too, well was in AAA at a relatively advanced age for a reason.
Want some other ideas?
How ‘bout packaging a couple minor-leaguers to the Mariners for Bedard (5-2, 2.47)? I know he’s on the 15-day DL, but the M’s say that’s precautionary. How ‘bout shipping Pierre or Ethier to the A’s for that kid Mazzaro or one or two of their other young starters?
I’m pulling these trades out of my hat, but my point is that at this stage of the season and with where they are in the standings, the Dodgers should be positioning themselves for the World Series, not limping into the playoffs with mediocre pitching.

I have been kind of lurking while doing homework…..But I want to give my $.02. We have only had one ace of our staff healthy thus far(Billz). After last night, Kuroda is looking healthy and finally found his stuff. If those two can pull it together we have 2 #1’s IMO. Let’s give Kuroda some time, get back into shape, don’t push Billz too hard to make nothing happens to him.
Another thing, can Kershaw mature enough to be a third starter for the playoff, or will it be Wolf and Kershaw out of the ‘pen. I am very optimistic for Kershaw’s development this year and would not want to move him for Lee.
I think we are looking ok right now…. I agree with El Lay Dave that if a reasonable deal comes along, take it. I am just too excited over our youth right now to give them all away.
Fields numbers may suck, but he is still strong.
This is early enough for JMac, who was called up for long relief primarily, I think, because of Weaver and Kershaw back to back starts. Funny if it was really Wolf we needed him for. However, Joe may not go with him down only two runs at this point. Without all the defensive miscues, it would be 5-1 and it might have been JMac.

Time for A.J. Ellis to give Martin and Ausmus the rest of the night off
I assume Ausmus is catching tomorrow’s day game.

DeWitt's playing 2B in Albuquerque
He just made an error.
It was the 14th - 1.5 weeks ago
He should be able to pitch several innings tonight, if his results are OK.
All this national media's in Albuquerque to see Manny
and the kid from Nashville has a no-hitter through five.
Double, productive out, productive out (RBI)
in the 7th to cut the lead to six is probably not the best course of action. Better than no runs I s’pose.
Everytime Hudson earns one of those quarter-million dollar PA bonuses
Does he treat the team to steak dinners? Each of those upcoming bonuses is more than half Kemp’s annual salary!
Hey, the rare Juan Castro sighting
He was getting harder to find than the governor of South Carolina. First appearance in 2 1/2 weeks (June 6).

The last time the Dodgers yielded 6 HRs in one game
August 2, 2001 to the Reds in Dodger Stadium.
HR: A Boone (13, off L Prokopec; 2nd inn, 0 on, 0 outs to LF);
D Young 2 (13, 1 off G Carrara, 1 off L Prokopec; 4th inn, 1 on, 0 outs to LF-CF; 6th inn, 0 on, 1 out to RF);
K Griffey (10, off L Prokopec; 3rd inn, 0 on, 2 outs to LF);
J LaRue 2 (9, 1 off L Prokopec, 1 off M Trombley; 2nd inn, 0 on, 1 out to LF-CF; 8th inn, 0 on, 2 outs to LF-CF).
The club record in the retrosheet era (1954-present) is 7, in 1954. Joe Adcock hit four of them, and a double to boot – 5 for 5, 18 TB.
Giants are ahead
4-1 vs. Oakland in the 4th, and they may get more.
Looks like Eric Stephen won the contest tonight with the latest inning for a Bison guess.
