Dodgers Sign Ramon Nivar
According to Diamond Leung of Diamond Notes the Dodgers signed Ramon Nivar to a minor-league contract and assigned him to Double-A Chattanooga. Nivar is a 29 year-old infielder who hasn't played in the majors since 2005, when he was with the Orioles. He was playing with the independent league Newark Bears prior to his signing. Nivar takes the place of Tony Abreu who was recently promoted to Triple-A.
Also of note, recently released Valentino Pascucci signed a minor league deal with the Padres.
