Good luck, sir.

Not to speak ill of our Casey, but that picture of Wolf is the best picture of a 2009 Dodger with a beard so far this season.

The Tigers have purchased the contract of LHP Fu-Te Ni. I wonder if certain Knights approve of this use of one of the sacred words.

I forgot, does the bullpen at Comerica Park contain a shrubbery?

Nice

I think you are right about McDonald…with two long men in Weaver and Milton there’s no need for McDonald…let him get some starts in AAA, then be ready for the second half (say August 1 or so) if/when Milton falters.

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 7:13 PM PDT up reply actions

It's hard to imagine

Milton, Weaver, and Vargas all in the bullpen at the same time. And with a four-man rotation until July 11, there’s probably no point to a 13-man pitching staff, so the upcoming roster moves will be interesting.

The only things I’m pretty certain of is Manny will be activated and Kuo will go to the 60-day DL. Likely McDonald gets optioned. But there needs to be one more 40-man spot made available if Vargas is activated.

by David Young on Jun 29, 2009 7:15 PM PDT up reply actions

I was thinking a Jones DFA (followed by a minor league contract to keep him), but I think Ellis gets sent down and the 40-man spot is solved with a Repko DFA. No inside info, just a hunch.

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 7:55 PM PDT up reply actions

Can we blame Pierre for that?

Yes, probably. Though it was hit pretty deep. Not sure Manny would’ve had him at 2nd either.

by underdog on Jun 29, 2009 7:53 PM PDT reply actions

and of course Fowler probably wouldn't

even be running if it’s a deep ball to Kemp or someone wthout the rep of having a jello arm.

by underdog on Jun 29, 2009 7:53 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, I don’t think there’s a need to get too down on Pierre for that…they probably would have made it on Manny too, although perhaps they would have been less likely to try.

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 7:54 PM PDT up reply actions

I wouldn’t mind a nice 20-inning game. It’s been a while

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:04 PM PDT up reply actions

and not just a scoreless extras either…I’m thinking of the Rick Camp game.

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:06 PM PDT up reply actions

By the way, I forgot to include the link to the Rick Camp game…just a classic game, which ended in the middle of the night with fireworks (it was July 4)!!!

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:09 PM PDT up reply actions

After seeing the replay

How could Andre’s hit not have been an error on Fowler?

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 29, 2009 10:04 PM PDT reply actions

dre was going for 2 anyway

i guess the scorer figured he’d make it

by bucknellbruin on Jun 29, 2009 10:04 PM PDT up reply actions

I dont think he would have made it though.

And on such a blatant misplay, I think an error is the right call.

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 29, 2009 10:06 PM PDT up reply actions

That could/should get changed

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Is Xavier Paul ever coming back

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on Jun 29, 2009 10:05 PM PDT reply actions

We need him back on staph

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:06 PM PDT up reply actions

Damn that thing took off

by KellyStephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:06 PM PDT up reply actions

It was like I had just served it in ping pong

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:07 PM PDT up reply actions

you mean the return from me? I agree.

by KellyStephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:07 PM PDT up reply actions

This is not astro-turf Matt - WTF was that

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on Jun 29, 2009 10:06 PM PDT reply actions

that was weird

it was slicing left to right then kicked and spun left

by bucknellbruin on Jun 29, 2009 10:07 PM PDT up reply actions

i know what he means

but that ball would have made it to the wall through 3 inches of grass

O.A.

by Ollie on Jun 29, 2009 10:09 PM PDT up reply actions

Oh....

So that’s how this game is gonna go…

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 29, 2009 10:07 PM PDT reply actions

Wow

they didn’t run on JP????

by KellyStephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:09 PM PDT reply actions

yeah

i was thinking the same thing

by bucknellbruin on Jun 29, 2009 10:09 PM PDT up reply actions

Good thing we aren’t playing in Colorado. We get last ups!

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:09 PM PDT reply actions

On negative side we have our 1 - 3 hitters coming up.

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on Jun 29, 2009 10:11 PM PDT up reply actions

yep

maybe castro can pinch hit for furcal

by bucknellbruin on Jun 29, 2009 10:11 PM PDT up reply actions

He had 2nd stolen twice in the first, but due to a foul ball and strike 3 he got neither one :(

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:13 PM PDT up reply actions

He better have confidence

his post was stapled on the Rockie bulletin board.

javier with a not top 10 there in foul territory

O.A.

by Ollie on Jun 29, 2009 10:10 PM PDT reply actions

Wicked movement on that pitch

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:12 PM PDT reply actions

I’ll take Stewart and Smith off of the bench

by oshea2002 on Jun 29, 2009 10:12 PM PDT reply actions

Weaver was fishing for the K on that one…nice movement though

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:14 PM PDT reply actions

Sweet pitch

thought it might have dropped to low but he got the call

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on Jun 29, 2009 10:14 PM PDT reply actions

That replay really makes it look low.

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on Jun 29, 2009 10:15 PM PDT up reply actions

Well, Weaver in a similar spot to Thursday

Got in a jam, got two outs…….

Hopefully a different result this time

by oshea2002 on Jun 29, 2009 10:14 PM PDT reply actions

That was a lovely breaking pitch to Fowler

for strike 3. After what I thought was a strike that was called a ball.

How is this possible

by Bluetrek on Jun 29, 2009 10:16 PM PDT reply actions

If Pierre gets on

Furcal better step within 50 feet of that plate – Juan Castro please

by oshea2002 on Jun 29, 2009 10:17 PM PDT reply actions

No, Torre’s going to make Furcal bunt if Pierre gets on base. ;P

by shoothoop on Jun 29, 2009 10:18 PM PDT up reply actions

I know it won’t happen, but they will have Furcal try again I’m sure

by oshea2002 on Jun 29, 2009 10:19 PM PDT up reply actions

Woohoo!! Weaver of all people!!!

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 29, 2009 10:17 PM PDT reply actions

We’re up to 820+ comments…I’ll put up a new thread if we get to the 11th.

AKA there will be no overflow thread!

Prediction

Pierre will triple and steal home.

by silverwidow on Jun 29, 2009 10:19 PM PDT reply actions

Or get thrown out at 2nd

Okay, that was my cynical prediction. I like your scenario better.

by underdog on Jun 29, 2009 10:20 PM PDT up reply actions

jeez

what a horrible bounce. should’ve been a double

by bucknellbruin on Jun 29, 2009 10:19 PM PDT reply actions

by Phil Gurnee on Jun 29, 2009 10:20 PM PDT reply actions

by Ollie on Jun 29, 2009 10:20 PM PDT reply actions

oh well

at least it worked this time

by bucknellbruin on Jun 29, 2009 10:20 PM PDT reply actions

I think the Dodgers have scored a few off him this year.

by bhsportsguy on Jun 29, 2009 10:20 PM PDT reply actions

Do I need to read reports?

No, I don’t think I do. Would they have come in handy tonight? Possible. I think I know what I’m doing though.

Woah, I thought Pierre was going to get out there. Whew

by shoothoop on Jun 29, 2009 10:24 PM PDT reply actions

Hudson did make another $250k tonight

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:25 PM PDT reply actions

Considering he didn't hit the ball hard

and the double clutch he was still far from the bag.

Beard intentional walk

by shoothoop on Jun 29, 2009 10:25 PM PDT reply actions

Both the Rockies and Dodgers

have superb defenses — the Rox have shown it a bit more tonight, but in general their D’s are a big reason why they are both tough to beat.

Forgot about the game tonight

but tuned in just in time to see Odog ground out with a runner on 3rd with 1 out. Still offensive offense.

pitching for both sides though. Dodgers’ pen racked up a ton of K’s.

Any sense of injry would show on the defensive side.

And i’ve seen him take maybe one play off that he wouldn’t in fine shape. Rest ’em for a bit.

Terrible AB's tonight in big spots

Jimenez can be tough – but Rincon and Embree are pieces of shit. Come on – do better.

I don't mean to start rumors but i wonder if something is nagging the O-Dog

he looked slow going up the first baseline, and my friend said he had a bit of limp when he came out to speak to the jr. dodgers
