Not to speak ill of our Casey, but that picture of Wolf is the best picture of a 2009 Dodger with a beard so far this season.

The Tigers have purchased the contract of LHP Fu-Te Ni. I wonder if certain Knights approve of this use of one of the sacred words.

Nice

I think you are right about McDonald…with two long men in Weaver and Milton there’s no need for McDonald…let him get some starts in AAA, then be ready for the second half (say August 1 or so) if/when Milton falters.

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 7:13 PM PDT up reply actions

It's hard to imagine

Milton, Weaver, and Vargas all in the bullpen at the same time. And with a four-man rotation until July 11, there’s probably no point to a 13-man pitching staff, so the upcoming roster moves will be interesting.

The only things I’m pretty certain of is Manny will be activated and Kuo will go to the 60-day DL. Likely McDonald gets optioned. But there needs to be one more 40-man spot made available if Vargas is activated.

by David Young on Jun 29, 2009 7:15 PM PDT up reply actions

I was thinking a Jones DFA (followed by a minor league contract to keep him), but I think Ellis gets sent down and the 40-man spot is solved with a Repko DFA. No inside info, just a hunch.

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 7:55 PM PDT up reply actions

Yes, probably. Though it was hit pretty deep. Not sure Manny would’ve had him at 2nd either.

by underdog on Jun 29, 2009 7:53 PM PDT reply actions

and of course Fowler probably wouldn't

even be running if it’s a deep ball to Kemp or someone wthout the rep of having a jello arm.

Yeah, I don’t think there’s a need to get too down on Pierre for that…they probably would have made it on Manny too, although perhaps they would have been less likely to try.

Seems like it’s been awhile since he’s got on base.

Maybe a day off Wednesday (with no game Thursday) would do him some good.

Yet another reason to grow out the beard…more area to get HBP

ubaldo has been getting a lot of groundouts today

Dodgers - 2008 NL West Champions
Cardinals - 2008 NFC Champions

One of these times, Ubaldo is going to sidearm that bad boy to first down the line in RF.

Then again, maybe we should stop trying to test him with comebackers.

how many ND does Wolf have?

by Alex L on Jun 29, 2009 8:51 PM PDT reply actions

11

Oswalt has 9, nobody else has more than 8 in MLB

Vin just said record is 20…he’s got that in the bag

You think Torre is overusing Beli? I wish our starters could go longer than the usual 5-6 innings.

by shoothoop on Jun 29, 2009 8:52 PM PDT reply actions

Seems our starters usually go 5 innings more often than 6. I wish Torre wouldn’t give some of the starters such a quick leash

by shoothoop on Jun 29, 2009 8:55 PM PDT up reply actions

He has pitched a lot, but it seems to me Torre has rested him when needed, and not overused him much…outside of maybe that 3-game stretch two or so weeks ago

Isn’t this Beli’s 3rd game in a row?

by shoothoop on Jun 29, 2009 8:54 PM PDT up reply actions

No.

He pitched yesterday for one out, and that’s it.

by Tripon on Jun 29, 2009 8:55 PM PDT up reply actions

Yep, only 9 more to go

before tying Burt “Be Home Bly” Leven.

by underdog on Jun 29, 2009 8:55 PM PDT up reply actions

speaking of Blyleven

Wolf could I suppose approach the Dodger record for HR given up. Don Sutton had 38 in 1970.

Wolf is at 15, so he’d have to pick up the pace to catch Don.

only 11 pitches

I'm nobody's fool, least of all yours

by BoulderDodger on Jun 29, 2009 8:55 PM PDT reply actions

Beli's ERA dips under 2

outside shot for the all star team with Torre’s influence??? probably not but that would be sweet

I'm nobody's fool, least of all yours

It’s the other way around…singers approach them to do GBA to get air time.
