Weaver pulled for Leach… I thought Weaver was doing pretty well, darn.

by shoothoop on Jun 29, 2009 10:32 PM PDT reply actions

sounds like J-Mac will be the long man tonight…if needed of course

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:33 PM PDT up reply actions

No more Weaver?

Too bad, he was going to hit the walkoff.

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 29, 2009 10:32 PM PDT reply actions

Mr. Limpett better watch himself if he pinch hits.

ehhh

i dunno…gameday always tries to make the ump seem right…it ended in martins glove as a strike but since it was a curve i dunno

i’ll take it gladly though :)

Memo to the Rockies

We are having serious offensive troubles. If you don’t want this game going till 1 am – you’d best walk our lead off guy and then proceed to commit 3 straight balks. Think big picture.

by oshea2002 on Jun 29, 2009 10:35 PM PDT reply actions

I am officially a fan of Brent Leach

by Bluetrek on Jun 29, 2009 10:36 PM PDT reply actions

YES!

Leach can go two tonight! Not that we want him to..

by Tripon on Jun 29, 2009 10:36 PM PDT reply actions

Like I said a while back

Leach will be in the pen for the next decade

by silverwidow on Jun 29, 2009 10:37 PM PDT reply actions

Doesn’t that kind of give you a little bit of pause when etching in planning our lineup with Lambo or Russell, etc, for the next decade? I get, different players and all, but sometimes the future is pretty far away :)

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:43 PM PDT up reply actions

Yup, I'd rather plan my lineup with Miggy Cabrera in it.

Ah

I wondered why it felt so lonely on the other thread

by sumo390 on Jun 29, 2009 10:41 PM PDT reply actions

So who’s pitching the 12th (if it goes that far) ?

by shoothoop on Jun 29, 2009 10:43 PM PDT reply actions

Didn't see the bullpen

but I think J-Mac (if Leach is out)

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:44 PM PDT up reply actions

leach again?

he didnt make many pitches

O.A.

by Ollie on Jun 29, 2009 10:44 PM PDT up reply actions

Consider the Rockies duly warned

We won’t score. So if they don’t – they are just gonna gas their pen. Not worth it for a team in a wild card chase

by oshea2002 on Jun 29, 2009 10:44 PM PDT reply actions

Possibly the worst swing ever :(

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:45 PM PDT reply actions

Really, the worst swing ever

I’d go for tonight or maybe this week or month, but ever.

by bhsportsguy on Jun 29, 2009 10:45 PM PDT reply actions

I think a little hyperbole was called for there

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:46 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah seems a bit

hyperbolic on that one but it was a pretty sad swing. I’m sure we’ve seen other terrible swings in our lifetimes. But… GAH.

if mota has a good inning

i could just picture him letting mota bat for himself..

O.A.

by Ollie on Jun 29, 2009 10:51 PM PDT reply actions

If they let Loney pitch

It’s quite possible he’ll look like a David Price clone without the killer heat.

by silverwidow on Jun 29, 2009 10:51 PM PDT reply actions

If Mota hits a walkoff HR tonight, I will shave my head for Friday’s game

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 10:52 PM PDT reply actions

but game to game is not so easy.

True

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 11:07 PM PDT up reply actions

The problem with Raffy

is that he’s an 8 hitter (right now) hitting 1 or 2

by oshea2002 on Jun 29, 2009 11:06 PM PDT up reply actions

I know

I just meant that there aren’t any better alternatives.

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 29, 2009 11:07 PM PDT up reply actions

The question for me is there someone better

the question is should they both rest more? Hudson needs to rest more for sure, and raffy already gets some time off. So it’s less should they be replaced than can the Dodgers benefit from someone else filling in for tem more often right now. And I think they can.

Not at the same time mind you.

Castro, Hu, DeWitt are all capable backups.

by underdog on Jun 29, 2009 11:06 PM PDT up reply actions

I think

with all the June off days, that was their rest. As the schedule gets tougher, they might see more time off (at least Raffy)

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 11:07 PM PDT up reply actions

Yah But I still think Hudson

looks tired and could use a game off each week right now. too.

by underdog on Jun 29, 2009 11:08 PM PDT up reply actions

I’m not opposed to that idea

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 11:08 PM PDT up reply actions

I think that resting them a bit more would be good

But I still think Castro and Hu are garbage at this point.

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 29, 2009 11:09 PM PDT up reply actions

Castro

hasn’t been garbage so far this year has he?

(Not that I expected much out of him at start of the year.)

by underdog on Jun 29, 2009 11:11 PM PDT up reply actions

Or DeWitt?

Though I know they want him to play every day right now…

We need a fresh arm for tomorrow

Elbert last pitched on 6/25. He’ll come up, most likely.

by silverwidow on Jun 29, 2009 11:09 PM PDT reply actions

Outside of Beli and Troncoso (I know, that’s a lot), I think everyone is available tomorrow…maybe not Leach (two light outings in a row)

Also

if they need an arm, it would most likely be Vargas anyway

by Eric Stephen on Jun 29, 2009 11:10 PM PDT up reply actions

You're right

Elbert should probably keep starting

Going into the 13th inning

The only time either team scored was in the 5th.

by Nofatmike on Jun 29, 2009 11:09 PM PDT reply actions

And we scored because our pitcher

faked a time out, got a balk and then got a hit off a rattled pitcher. The non – pitching hitters have looked like the Giants. Not the GIants that scored 10 runs tonight but the Giants that everyone thinks has a lousy offense.

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on Jun 29, 2009 11:10 PM PDT reply actions

The San Jose Giants

Against MLB pitching maybe (Nah, they’d probably still be better). The SF Giants offense is much better than this.

by Brendan Scolari on Jun 29, 2009 11:11 PM PDT up reply actions

Last time I checked

Which was last week. The Giants have averaged 4 runs a game in June, the same amount they averaged in May and April they averaged slightly less than that.

That’s 3 months of games for a sample. They could be better than that but its hard to see where it will come from.

by silverwidow on Jun 29, 2009 11:12 PM PDT up reply actions

none of this “hit the wall in the 5th inning” stuff. Everyone pitched tonight – 7+ is needed.
