You Are Now Entering Mannywood
Tonight was Manny Ramirez first home game since his 50 game suspension. Unfortunately, there wasn't too much to talk about, at least on the Dodgers side. The Blue Crew was shutout by the Houston Astros pitching staff despite having 8 base hits.Manny received a standing ovation each time he went up to bat. Most of the fans in the pavilions and Mannywood remained standing and showed their support for the slugger when he took the field for defense. He looked very appreciative and acknowledged the crowd whenever they were chanting. The Los Angeles sportsfan treats their star athletes with a lot of respect and admiration. This was certainly the case tonight. It seemed more like a player coming back from an injury than from a huge suspension. The fans didn't forget Juan Pierre, who also received a standing ovation from the crowd when he came up to pinch hit.
I got to sit in Mannywood with my friend. While it definitely not my first time sitting next to the Dodgers bullpen, it was certainly special to be there on Manny's return. In addition to being poster-giveaway night, the whole Mannywood section was given free Mannywood tshirts to signal the return of Manny and the Mannywood seats. A very nice gesture, as the organization showed a lot of appreciation for the fans.

Since you sat in the "Mannywood" section
I was wondering if you had an opinion on this column.

I thought part of the $99 ticket price (for two) was getting two shirts. Did they give everyone an extra shirt as well last night?
Everyone got one, regardless if you bought a Mannywood package.
I got a Costco deal, 2 for 50-something. Another couple next to us were Loge Box season ticket holders who got 2 upgrades.
Everyone in 51-53 got a complementary tee shirt. Not too sure if people got 2. Probably not =)
Contradiction
[Manny] acknowledged the crowd whenever they were chanting.
Bill Plaschke, pecker checker, seems to believe that Manny completely ignored the crowd. One of you is not telling the truth, and I’m not going to believe Kenchanayoh is a fibber.
Thank u Dodgers friends for Plaschke's article
To everyone and especially to Dave, it is true that he didn’t go out and high 5 everyone in Mannywood. But which player does.
I have a high respect for Bill, as I met him at a journalism conference at Annenberg USC many many years ago. But I have a problem to his claims.
I sat 10 rows back, right next to the bullpen. And most of the time that the fans chanted Manny in Mannywood, he looked over and smiled. One time he tipped his capped, and another he made a passive wave. But mostly he just smiled, and the fans cheered whenever he responded. Was Bill sitting in that section? Did he know that this was going on? I have witnesses disproving Bill’s claim. And to the claim that Manny didn’t acknowledge the sign in the pavilion is a lie. There is even a photo on the Dodgers.com frontpage of Manny putting his arms up in front of it.
What else can you ask for as a paying fan? I’m pretty sure Bill would have written an article about Manny being an arrogant bastard if Manny went out there high 5ing everyone and not being humble for being suspended for 50 games. Pick your poison.
Dodger fans booed Manny 7/18
So I was at the game and was surprised to hear a couple of boos for Manny including this…
(around the 25 second mark.)
